To report an error on today's or tomorrow's Main Page, please add it to the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quote of all or part of the text in question will help.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones: The current date and time is displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (17:22 on 14 June 2016), not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}}, which will not give you a faster response, and in fact causes problems if used here. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • Done? Once an error has been fixed, or has rotated off the Main Page, or has been acknowledged as not an error, the error report will be removed from this page; please check the page's history for discussion and action taken.
  • No chit-chat: Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere.

Ice hockey

Please can we spell out 'MVP', or change the phrasing to e.g. 'Conn Smythe trophy winner'? The initialism is not understood outside North America. The link is a bit of an easter egg already. Modest Genius talk 12:35, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

I think the term is becoming increasingly more well known outside NA, but I see your point. I'd prefer to go with "Conn Smythe Trophy winner", but would be interested to hear from someone who follows the NHL about which term is most used. Jenks24 (talk) 12:41, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
Speaking as someone with no interest in this sport, MVP is far more accessible to me that "Conn Smythe Trophy winner", the latter is meaningless at a glance. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:05, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
Agree with TRM; I have no interest in hockey and "Conn Smythe trophy" is meaningless to me, but MVP is a common term across multiple sports and it's far more likely a reader will understand its meaning. ‑ Iridescent 14:21, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
It's even more likely that they will understand 'most valuable player'. Modest Genius talk 15:20, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
It's linked to the relevant article, we should credit our readers with a basic level of intelligence, and we don't want to bloat blurbs. Of course your mileage may vary. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:36, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
