Jai travels to a cart noodles house in Yuen Long to sample some traditional pork ingredients (豬皮, 豬紅) in spicy sauce.
We travel on the MTR West Rail from Hung Hom to Long Ping, passing the KMB bus station before arriving at Castle Peak Road, where LRT vehicles operate on reserved track. The Yuen Long LRT terminus is underneath the Sun Yuen Long Shopping Centre, adjacent to Yuen Long Station. Curiously, the track circuit is bigger than the footprint of the building, and trams loop around the outside of the building before diving back inside.
We travel on rail service 615 to Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, the southern terminus of the system, before riding back to Ming Kum to film the extraordinary trackwork here. I have shortened the footage of the tram journey from its 45-minute original.
The journey continues in my Tuen Mun video.

Yuen Long (元朗), formerly Un Long, is an area and town located in the northwest of Hong Kong, on the Yuen Long Plain. To its west lie Hung Shui Kiu and Ha Tsuen, to the south Shap Pat Heung and Tai Tong, to the east Au Tau and Kam Tin, and to the north Nam Sang Wai.
The Cantonese name Yuen Long 元朗 in present-day conversation, "Yuen Long" may, depending on context, refer to the limits of the original market town, Yuen Long New Town, Yuen Long Plain, or Yuen Long District.
The central part of Yuen Long was traditionally a market town in the area now known as Yuen Long San Hui (元朗新墟), in Yuen Long District in the New Territories in Hong Kong. The site of the market town was situated centrally with regard to surrounding villages, allowing villagers a convenient location to sell their crops and fish.
The market is a place to allow people from villages in northwest New Territories to shop and trade. Like many market towns in Hong Kong, the market operates only on certain days each week.
Now, the central part of Yuen Long does not have that kind of market anymore. On the contrary, Modern shopping malls and various types of restaurants are established.

Yuen Long District (Chinese: 元朗區, Jyutping: jyun4 long5, pinyin: Yuánlǎng, used to be known as Un Long), is one of the districts of Hong Kong located in the northwest of the New Territories. It had a population of 449,070 in 2001. The district has the youngest population of Hong Kong and the lowest income in the New Territories.
Yuen Long District contains the largest alluvial plain in Hong Kong, the Yuen Long-Kam Tin plain. With an area of 144 km², the district covers many traditional villages including Ping Shan Heung, Ha Tsuen Heung, Kam Tin Heung, Pat Heung, San Tin Heung and Shap Pat Heung, as well as Yuen Long Town and Tin Shui Wai.
Two new towns have been developed within this district. Yuen Long New Town was developed from the traditional market town of Yuen Long Town from the late 1970s. Tin Shui Wai New Town has developed since the early 1990s, and is built on land reclaimed from former fish ponds once common in the district.
Since the Tang Dynasty, the Tang's clan has been living in Pat Heung. Like Tai Po, Yuen Long used to be a traditional market town.

Eat Central - Assorted Noodles in Yuen Long, Hong Kong
Jai travels to a cart noodles house in Yuen Long to sample some traditional pork ingredients (豬皮, 豬紅) in spicy sauce. -
[Hong Kong Buses] Yuen Long 元朗 and the Light Rail System 輕鐵
We travel on the MTR West Rail from Hung Hom to Long Ping, passing the KMB bus station before arriving at Castle Peak Road, where LRT vehicles operate on reserved track. The Yuen Long LRT terminus is underneath the Sun Yuen Long Shopping Centre, adjacent to Yuen Long Station. Curiously, the track circuit is bigger than the footprint of the building, and trams loop around the outside of the building before diving back inside. We travel on rail service 615 to Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, the southern terminus of the system, before riding back to Ming Kum to film the extraordinary trackwork here. I have shortened the footage of the tram journey from its 45-minute original. The journey continues in my Tuen Mun video. Filmed on 29th April 2014. -

We travel on the MTR West Rail from Hung Hom to Long Ping, passing the KMB bus station before arriving at Castle Peak Road, where LRT vehicles operate on reserved track. The Yuen Long LRT terminus is underneath the Sun Yuen Long Shopping Centre, adjacent to Yuen Long Station. Curiously, the track circuit is bigger than the footprint of the building, and trams loop around the outside of the building before diving back inside.
We travel on rail service 615 to Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, the southern terminus of the system, before riding back to Ming Kum to film the extraordinary trackwork here. I have shortened the footage of the tram journey from its 45-minute original.
The journey continues in my Tuen Mun video.

元朗公園 - 百鳥塔 (Yuen Long Park - the Aviary Pagoda), 9 Jan 2011 Built on the hill of Shui Ngau Ling of 30 metres high, the aviary pagoda is the highest structure in its surroundings and the landmark of the Yuen Long Park. The 7-storey pagoda is red in colour and of Chinese architectural style. At the top level of the pagoda, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of all Yuen Long Town as well as a fine distant view of Ping Shan, Ha Tsuen, Shap Pat Heung and the new town of Tin Shui Wai. Built on the hill of Shui Ngau Ling of 30 metres high, the aviary pagoda is the highest structure in its surroundings and the landmark of the Yuen Long Park. The 7-storey pagoda is red in colour and of Chinese architectural style. At the top level of the pagoda, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of all Yuen Long Town as well as a fine distant view of Ping Shan, Ha Tsuen, Shap Pat Heung and the new town of Tin Shui Wai.
The lowest storey of the pagoda is converted into an open aviary, the first of its kind. The open aviary at the bottom of the pagoda has a floor area of 85 square metres and is planted with various kinds of trees, shrubs and potted plants in order to imitate the wood environment and provide a shelter for the birds, which is similar to their natural habitat. The aviary pagoda houses more than 100 birds of over 30 species such as Orange-bellied leafbird, Black Bulbul, Emerald Dove, Peking Robin, Hwa-Mei, Java Sparrow, Black-naped Oriole, Black-crested Yellow Bulbul, Grosbeak Starling...... Having entered the aviary through the revolving door, visitors will find themselves surrounded by birds which are singing and flying freely.
