British tourist dies in Varanasi
Rajeev Dikshit | TNN | Jun 14, 2016, 04.42 PM ISTVaranasi: John George Dowson (32), a British tourist, was found dead inside the toilet of a guest house in Shivala area of Bhelupur late night on Monday.
According to CO (LIU) VN Dubey, John along with a US national had entered India through Sonauli (Nepal) border and reached Varanasi on June 12. After site-seeing in the city, John and his companion returned to their room in Dynasty Guest House on Monday evening. He went to the toilet attached to his room after sometime. When he did not come out of the toilet for more than an hour, his companion sought help from the guest house staff.
The staff found John lying unconscious in the toilet. He was immediately rushed to trauma-center of Banaras Hindu University where doctors declared him brought dead.
Dubey said that British Embassy had been informed about the death of John. The cause of death has not been ascertained yet as the police is awaiting British Embassy's nod for the post mortem.
