Communion is a 1989 Science Fiction drama/thriller film based on the book of the same name by Whitley Strieber. Starring Christopher Walken and Frances Sternhagen, it tells a story of a family that experiences the extraterrestrial phenomenon while on vacation at a remote vacation home in the wilderness during of which the father is abducted and all of thier lives change. According to Strieber, the story is a real-life account of his own encounter with "visitors", with Walken playing the role of the author. The score was composed by Eric Clapton. It received a mostly negative critical reaction due to Walken's performance and was panned by Strieber himself due to its non-factual portrayal of him. He said that while his experience was a dream and on his own, the film showed it as actually happening and his entire family experiencing it. The film was also a box office failure.
Father Clemence, a man burned by his faith, has taken in search of retribution. Along the way, he is joined by Maria, a hitch hiking punk, who is fleeing her home in Mexico City. Together, the odd couple embark on a roller coaster of adventure that is at times both harrowing and heart warming.

No I don't wanna say goodbye
But I can't walk with you whole you go off to die
No, no I don't want to be alone
But I can't keep playing like nothing's wrong
(Chorus)
But I lied to you to protect myself
To protect my life
I denied my Christ
I lied to you to protect myself
to protect my life
I denied my Christ
What kind of friend would I be
and would you believe that I cared
If I found eternal life
And I refused to share
No more playing along
The truth can't be hid for long
And I'm not gonna hide it anymore
Leave me out of your communion
I want no part of your suicide
Drink up drink up drink all the poison
If you're so sure that you'll survive
If you're so sure!
I can no longer live the way I once lived
and pretend that Jehovah's strength is something I did
If you cast Christ out
May i be cast out too,
