14th Street may refer to several locations in the United States:
14th Street NW/SW is a street in Northwest and Southwest quadrants of Washington, D.C., located 1.25 miles (2.01 km) west of the U.S. Capitol. It runs from the 14th Street Bridge north to Eastern Avenue.
Northbound U.S. Route 1 runs along 14th Street from the bridge to Constitution Avenue, where it turns east with US 50. US 1 southbound previously used 15th Street NW due to the ban on left turns from westbound Constitution Avenue to 14th Street, but it now uses the Ninth Street Tunnel, five blocks to the east. 14th Street crosses the National Mall and runs near the White House and through the western side of Washington's Logan Circle neighborhood.
Because it connects to one of the main bridges crossing the Potomac River into Virginia, 14th Street has always been a major transportation corridor. It was the location of one of the first streetcar lines, and today it is the location of several afternoon carpooling "slug lines", which allow commuters to meet the high-occupancy vehicle requirements of I-395, the Henry G. Shirley Memorial Highway.
Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and commonly referred to as "Washington", "the District", or simply "D.C.", is the capital of the United States. The signing of the Residence Act on July 16, 1790, approved the creation of a capital district located along the Potomac River on the country's East Coast. The U.S. Constitution provided for a federal district under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Congress and the District is therefore not a part of any U.S. state.
The states of Maryland and Virginia each donated land to form the federal district, which included the pre-existing settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria. Named in honor of George Washington, the City of Washington was founded in 1791 to serve as the new national capital. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia; in 1871, it created a single municipal government for the remaining portion of the District.
Washington had an estimated population of 672,228 as of July 2015. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city's population to more than one million during the workweek. The Washington metropolitan area, of which the District is a part, has a population of over 6 million, the seventh-largest metropolitan statistical area in the country.
14 (fourteen /fɔərˈtiːn/) is the natural number following 13 and preceding 15.
In speech, the numbers 14 and 40 are often confused. When carefully enunciated, they differ in which syllable is stressed: 14 i/fɔərˈtiːn/ vs 40 /ˈfɔːrti/. In relation to the word "four" (4), 14 is spelled "fourteen".
Fourteen is a composite number, its divisors being 1, 2, 7 and 14.
14 is the 3rd discrete semiprime (2 × 7) and the 3rd member of the (2·q) discrete semiprime family. The number following 14—15—is itself a discrete semiprime and this is the first such pair of discrete semiprimes. The next example is the pair commencing 21.
The aliquot sum σ(n) of 14 is 10, also a discrete semiprime and this is again the first example of a discrete semiprime having an aliquot sum in the same form. 14 has an aliquot sequence of 6 members (14,10,8,7,1,0) 14 is the third composite number in the 7-aliquot tree.
Fourteen is itself the aliquot sum of two numbers; the discrete semiprime 22, and the square number 169.
A street is a public thoroughfare (usually paved) in a built environment. It is a public parcel of land adjoining buildings in an urban context, on which people may freely assemble, interact, and move about. A street can be as simple as a level patch of dirt, but is more often paved with a hard, durable surface such as concrete, cobblestone or brick. Portions may also be smoothed with asphalt, embedded with rails, or otherwise prepared to accommodate non-pedestrian traffic.
Originally the word "street" simply meant a paved road (Latin: "via strata"). The word "street" is still sometimes used colloquially as a synonym for "road", for example in connection with the ancient Watling Street, but city residents and urban planners draw a crucial modern distinction: a road's main function is transportation, while streets facilitate public interaction. Examples of streets include pedestrian streets, alleys, and city-centre streets too crowded for road vehicles to pass. Conversely, highways and motorways are types of roads, but few would refer to them as streets.

This is part of my daily morning commute down 14th street NW. I elect to take 14th street on most days primarily because it's the fastest route. It's probably not as safe as the separated bike lane on 15th street, but if you take the lane for a good majority of it and only use the bike lane when it's clear, it helps reduce the risks and will get you to your destination in one third the time. Here's a video of my commute down 15th street where I hit a red on 8 out of 11 lights (http://youtu.be/mXcBqJ74bxI). If you want to get places quickly and aren't a fan of jumping red lights, you'll see quickly why I avoid taking 15th street south bound.

I see you walking up 14th Street and you don't know
That I'm walking right behind you, walking real slow
I don't want to catch up with you 'cause once we got started
We'd have to see it through
I see you on the street, you kiss my cheek
My knees go weak
It's clear you've got nothing to lose
While I'm losing sleep
I see you walking up 14th Street and you don't know
I'm following behind you counting my steps as I go
Maybe ten steps or twelve, divide us in two
Not counting the blocks between me and you
I see you on the street, you kiss my cheek
My knees go weak
It's clear you've got nothing to lose
While I'm losing sleep
People said watch out for that situation
It's nothing more than crazy infatuation
Insisting it was love, I weighed common sense
I played with my heart 'til I saw how much I spent
I see you walking up 14th Street and you don't know
Now I'm so close behind you, almost in your shadow
Maybe one step or two and I'd be walking next to you
Not counting the blocks between me and you
I see you on the street, you kiss my cheek
My knees go weak
It's clear you've got nothing to lose
While I'm losing sleep
I see you on the street and my knees go weak
