New York, one of America's most diverse city has resorted to love rather than hate.

After Sunday's horrific shooting at Pulse, a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, the United States has seen a rise in Islamophobic comments and sentiments on Social Media. The shooter, identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, reportedly pledged his support to Daesh in a 911 call just before the attack, Donald Trump came forward with a new round of anti-Muslim rhetoric on Twitter.

At least 49 people died and 53 were injured in the attack, the deadliest ever committed on US soil.

However New York, one of America's most diverse city has resorted to love rather than hate.

A New York City woman, in a Facebook post that's gone viral, detailed how during her morning commute to work on Monday, Amaira Hasan described a scene when a man boarded her subway car and began verbally abusing two women in hijab.

What followed next was completely awe-inspiring, heart-warming and seeing as her post has now been shared over 16,000 times in 20 hours, New Yorkers are sticking together and standing up for the Muslims in their city.

The man attacked the two women in hijabs and told them to "go back home and take their bombs with them." And that's when the rest of the train rose up to stop him.

She was late to work, but in her words "it was for the best reason".
