Members are required to meet a rigid rehearsal schedule in addition to maintaining a minimum grade level. The combination of dedication and hard work gives the Concert Choir a feeling of family in addition to the performance expectations. They travel 3,000 -- 4,000 miles per year representing York College, the music department, and the choral art. They have performed in many of our United States and Canada, and in May of 2005, the choir made a mission trip and concert tour throughout the nation of Japan. Their reputation for choral excellence is well known. They have been selected to perform three times for the Nebraska Music Educators Association state music conference. The Concert Choir performed with the Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra in December of 1997, and again in December of 1999. The Choir toured Japan in the summer of '04, and in the summer of '08 a compilation / tribute CD honoring the Choir and Dr. Roush was issued by Dallas Christian Sound. Summer '09, the Concert Choir was chosen to perform at Lincoln Center in New York City, performing the music of Eric Whitacre -- rehearsed and conducted by Mr. Whitacre himself. The Choir has made several appearances for a Nebraska Choral Directors Association event on the stage of the Lied Center in Lincoln, NE. Each fall, the Concert Choir prepares sacred a cappella literature for their January tour. In the spring, the Concert Choir prepares accompanied repertoire for their annual spring concert. The group is comprised of all grade classifications, a wide variety of majors, and is highly recognized for their level of choral artistry. More information at http://www.york.edu.
