The Book of Kells
The Book of Kells (Irish: Leabhar Cheanannais) (Dublin, Trinity College Library, MS AI (58), sometimes known as the Book of Columba) is an illuminated manuscript in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together with various prefatory texts and tables. It was transcribed by Celtic monks ca. 800. The text of the Gospels is largely drawn from the Vulgate, although it also includes several passages drawn from the earlier versions of the Bible known as the Vetus Latina. It is a masterwork of Western calligraphyand represents the pinnacle of Insular illumination. It is also widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure. The illustrations and ornamentation of the Book of Kells surpass that of other Insular Gospels in extravagance and complexity. The decoration combines traditional Christian iconography with the ornate swirling motifs typical of Insular art. Figures of humans, animals and mythical beasts, together with Celtic knots and interlacing patterns in vibrant colours, enliven the manuscript's pages. Many of these minor decorative elements are imbued with Christian symbolism and so further emphasise the themes of the major illustrations. The manuscript today comprises 340 folios and, since 1953, has been bound in four volumes. The leaves are on high-quality calf vellum, and the unprecedentedly elaborate ornamentation that covers them includes ten full-page illustrations and text pages that are vibrant with historiated initials and interlinear ...

The Celts (pronounced /ˈkɛlts/ or /ˈsɛlts/, see pronunciation of Celtic) were a diverse group of tribal societies in Iron Age and Roman-era Europe who spoke Celtic languages. The earliest archaeological culture commonly accepted as Celtic, or rather Proto-Celtic, was the ...

The Chameleons - Live in Toronto - Monkeyland
Live in Toronto LP (vinyl) does not have "Splitting in Two" on it. "Splitting In Two" is an Alternative TV cover which with they traditionally ended shows. "Live In Toronto" was recorded in 1987 during their last tour, while "Live In Berlin" is from 1983, shortly before "Script of the Bridge" came out. As such, they are good bookends to their early career, and present different pictures of the band. Notes by Mark - By the late seventies Middleton had become a very dull and insular place to live. Although nearby Manchester has always been a fresh and interesting place to hang out, whenever I was skint, which was most of the time, I'd feel very trapped in Middleton. The first section really refers to people I found myself surrounded by early on in the band's development, all of which served to remind me of the depth of the rut we had all seemingly fallen into. The song as a whole was inspired by what the author Colin Wilson described as "the triviality of everydayness". Ironically, several years later, Middleton's nickname with those that lived in other areas around Manchester was 'Monkeytown'.

Leonard becomes deeply infatuated by Michelle, who seems poised to fall for him, but is having a self-destructive affair with a married man. At the same time, mounting pressure from his family pushes him towards committing to Sandra. Nate Silver: "The Signal and the Noise", Authors at Google
In the 2012 presidential election, Silver correctly predicted the winner of all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Between his electoral and popular vote predictions, he was by some measures the most successful major forecaster of the presidential election. Silver's predictions of US Senate races were correct in 31 of 33 states; he predicted Republican victory in North Dakota and Montana, where Democrats won. --Wikipedia Nate Silver joins Hal Varian (Google's Chief Economist) to talk about his book "The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail-but Some Don't" and answer Googler questions.
