Manuel Joseph "Man" Parrish (born May 6, 1958) is an American composer, songwriter, vocalist and producer. He, along with artists such as Yellow Magic Orchestra, Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, Arthur Baker, Afrika Bambaataa, John Robie, Jellybean Benitez, Lotti Golden, Richard Scher and Aldo Marin, helped create and define electro in the early 1980s.
A native New Yorker of Italian descent, Parrish was a member of the extended family that converged nightly at Studio 54. His nickname, Man, first appeared in Andy Warhol's Interview magazine, and his early live shows at Bronx hip-hop clubs were spectacles of lights, glitter, and pyrotechnics, which drew as much from the Warhol mystique as the Cold Crush Brothers.
His premier release was "Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don’t Stop)" issued in 1982, which was featured in the film Shaun of the Dead, the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and was sampled in Sway & King Tech's 1991 song "Follow 4 Now" from their second album "Concrete Jungle." He eventually signed with Elektra Records but was dropped from the label in 1984 when it decided not to release the album he had recorded for it.
Hip hop or hip-hop is a sub-cultural movement that formed during the early 1970s by African-American and Puerto Rican youths residing in the South Bronx in New York City. It became popular outside of the African-American community in the late 1980s and by the 2000s became the most listened-to musical genre in the world. It is characterized by four distinct elements, all of which represent the different manifestations of the culture: rap music (oral), turntablism or DJing (aural), b-boying (physical) and graffiti art (visual). Even while it continues to develop globally in myriad styles, these four foundational elements provide coherence to hip hop culture. The term is often used in a restrictive fashion as synonymous only with the oral practice of rap music.
The origin of the hip hop culture stems from the block parties of the Ghetto Brothers, when they plugged in the amplifiers for their instruments and speakers into the lampposts on 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue and used music to break down racial barriers, and from DJ Kool Herc at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, where Herc mixed samples of existing records with his own shouts to the crowd and dancers. Kool Herc is credited as the "father" of hip hop. DJ Afrika Bambaataa of the hip hop collective Zulu Nation outlined the pillars of hip hop culture, to which he coined the terms: MCing or "Emceein", DJing or "Deejayin", B-boying and graffiti writing or "Aerosol Writin".
Man 2 Man (also known as Man to Man) were an American Hi-NRG band from New York City, that formed in the early 1980s. They were best known for their hit singles "Male Stripper", "Energy Is Eurobeat" and "I Need a Man".
The Fast is an American glam/punk band formed in New York City in the mid 1970s by brothers Paul Zone, Miki Zone, and Mandy Zone.
In 1975, The Fast was an integral/influential part of the Max's Kansas City/CBGB scene alongside Blondie and the Ramones, with their blend of power pop and garage punk. As the New York punk rock scene was in its infancy, The Fast were a headline act at Max's Kansas City & CBGB in New York City.
The Fast's first single, "Boys Will Be Boys" (CBS Records UK) was released in 1976. It was produced by Bobby Orlando (Pet Shop Boys/Flirts/Bobby O/Divine). The Fast's sound and style was developed with 1960s mod pop elements and the use of synthesizers years before the instrument became a staple of 1980s New Wave.
Their second single "It's Like Love" (Ram Records) was released in 1977 and produced by Richard Gottehrer (Blondie/Go Go's/Strangeloves/Raveonettes). "It's Like Love" was a blending of electronic synth sounds and bubblegum pop. The B-side was "Kids Just Wanna Dance".
"Boogie Down" is a 1973 song recorded by Eddie Kendricks for Motown Records' Tamla label. The song was co-written by Leonard Caston, Jr., Anita Poree and Frank Wilson, the same song writing team that had composed "Keep on Truckin'", Kendricks' first major hit as a solo artist. Caston and Wilson co-produced the song and the arrangement was handled by Caston, Wilson and David Van DePitte.
Like "Keep on Truckin'", "Boogie Down" is an up-tempo, Disco/Funk number that saw heavy rotation in dance clubs. Released as a single from the album of the same name, "Boogie Down" became Kendricks' second consecutive single to top the Billboard's R&B Singles Chart, holding the number one position for three weeks, and just missed becoming his second straight #1 on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart, peaking at number two for two straight weeks. However, it was his second # 1 single on the Cash Box top 100 chart. Billboard ranked it as the #30 Pop single of 1974.
Red Bull is an energy drink sold by Austrian company Red Bull GmbH, created in 1987. In terms of market share, Red Bull is the highest-selling energy drink in the world, with 5.387 billion cans sold in 2013.
Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz was inspired by an existing energy drink named Krating Daeng, which was first invented and sold in Thailand. He took this idea, modified the ingredients to suit the tastes of Westerners, and, in partnership with Chaleo Yoovidhya, founded Red Bull GmbH in 1987 in Chakkapong, Thailand. In Thai, daeng means red, and krating is the large bovine called "gaur". Red Bull is sold in a tall and slim blue-silver can, while Krating Daeng is in a gold shorter can. The two are different products, produced separately.
The Red Bull company slogan is "Red Bull gives you wings", and the product is marketed through advertising, events (Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, Red Bull Air Race, Red Bull Crashed Ice), sports team ownerships (RB Leipzig, FC Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull Brasil, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Toro Rosso), celebrity endorsements, and music, through its record label Red Bull Records.

Man Parrish was one of early hip hop and electro's most eccentric characters. One of his biggest hits was composed to soundtrack a porn film called Heatstroke. When he performed at Studio 54, he was lowered from the ceiling. (Madonna was his opening act.) The song that got him started, "Boogie Down Bronx," was created in one wild weekend at Man's apartment on 14th & 9th in Manhattan. In this episode, both reminisce about the tune, while Parrish breaks out the 808 that made it happen. Experience the world of Red Bull like you have never seen it before. Man Parrish has produced, mixed and performed on over forty records including among his own recordings, The Village People, Michael Jackson, Boy George or Gloria Gaynor. http://www.manparrish.com/ Although he produced only a handful of tracks of renown and disappeared into obscurity almost as quickly as he had emerged from it, Manny ( Man ) Parrish is nonetheless one of the most important and influential figures in American electronic dance music. Helping to lay the foundation of electro, hip-hop, freestyle, and techno, as well as the dozens of subgenres to splinter off from those, Parrish introduced the aesthetic of European electronic pop to the American club scene by combining the plugged-in disco-funk of Giorgio Moroder and the man-machine music of Kraftwerk with the beefed-up rhythm...
