The Moche civilization (alternatively, the Mochica culture, Early Chimu, Pre-Chimu, Proto-Chimu, etc.) flourished in northern Peru with its capital Huacas del Sol y de la Luna near present-day Trujillo from about 100 AD to 800 AD, during the Regional Development Epoch. While this issue is the subject of some debate, many scholars contend that the Moche were not politically organized as a monolithic empire or state. Rather, they were likely a group of autonomous polities that shared a common elite culture, as seen in the rich iconography and monumental architecture that survive today. They are particularly noted for their elaborately painted ceramics, gold work, monumental constructions (huacas) and irrigation systems. Moche history may be broadly divided into three periods – the emergence of the Moche culture in Early Moche (AD 100–300), its expansion and florescence during Middle Moche (AD 300–600), and the urban nucleation and subsequent collapse in Late Moche (AD 500–750). Moche society was agriculturally based, with a significant level of investment in the construction of a network of irrigation canals for the diversion of river water to supply their crops. Their culture was sophisticated; and their artifacts express their lives, with detailed scenes of hunting, fishing, fighting, sacrifice, sexual encounters and elaborate ceremonies.

They eventually form a Thora court, which hears theological argumentation as well as practical considerations.

Maybe I've been saved for something worse
can't say
If you asked me now
what's in a crowd?
there's thousands of faces
with thousands of ways to be hurt for free
But this I know I always make the friends that never
stay
I always make the friends that never stay
Feelings can't be felt
I couldn't let the ground beneath me melt.
Not me
They spread things about
they twist things around
the mask is a screen till the whispers are so loud they
hurt
I tried to stay
That someone could of made up something so cruel
that someone could of poisoned that last mouthful of
that someone could of played with something untrue
that took such delight in the last breath of you
Couldn't bear to stay
Couldn't tear away

or reproachable
But this I know
I always make amends when it's too late
I always make amends when it's too late
Was there something I could of said
Something I did
Someone I could of called
Something I read
