Zhaoqing (肇庆) is a prefecture-level city located in the west-central region of Guangdong Province, at the middle and lower reaches of Xijiang River. Gaoyao District
Gaoyao (Chinese: 高要; pinyin: Gāoyào) is a district under the jurisdiction of Zhaoqing prefecture-level city in western Guangdong province, People's Republic of China. Population: 706,000.
Geography
Gaoyao is located on the southern bank of the Xi River, just opposite to Zhaoqing City. Both are about 100 kilometres (62 mi) away from Guangzhou, the provincial capital.
History
Gaoyao was established as a county as early as in the Han Dynasty. It was named after Gaoyao Gorge (now renamed Lingyang Gorge) on the Xi River, and became a city at county level in 1993.
Tourism
Places of interest include the Red Mansion and Gaoyao Xuegong Pavilion.
There are also 3 pagodas that can be seen in Gaoyao.

Zhaoqing (肇庆) is a prefecture-level city located in the west-central region of Guangdong Province, at the middle and lower reaches of Xijiang River. Adjacent to the Pearl River Delta, the city borders Guangxi Province in the northwest and Foshan City in the southeast. It lies about 90 kilometers (56 miles) from Guangzhou.
In the Qin Dynasty (221BC-206BC), this area belonged partly to the Nanhai Shire. In the Sui Dynasty (581-618), it was called Duanzhou and changed into its present name, Zhaoqing, in the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Zhaoqing has jurisdiction over 2 districts, 4 counties and 2 county-level cities:

It has emerged that two of six people killed by a landslide in Gaoyao, western Guangdong province, on Sunday afternoon were from Hong Kong, including a well-known fung shui master. They were among at least 16 killed as storms swept southern China ... Torrential rains are expected to continue pouring on southern China after killing at least 16 people in the last week and bringing chaos to air and road travel.
