Robin Hugh Gibb, CBE (22 December 1949 – 20 May 2012) was a British singer, songwriter and record producer, best known as a member of the group Bee Gees. He gained worldwide fame with his brothers Barry and Maurice Gibb, and their younger brother Andy was also a singer. Gibb joined his first band the Rattlesnakes which formed in Manchester, England.
Gibb was born on the Isle of Man to English parents, Hugh and Barbara Gibb; the family later moved to Manchester (where Andy was born) before settling in Redcliffe, a suburb of Brisbane, Australia. Gibb began his career as part of the family trio (Barry-Maurice-Robin). When the group found their first success, they returned to England where they achieved worldwide fame. In 2002, the Bee Gees were appointed as CBEs for their "contribution to music", however investiture at Buckingham Palace was delayed until 2004.
With record sales estimated in excess of 200 million units, the Bee Gees became one of the most successful pop groups of all time. Music historian Paul Gambaccini described Gibb as "one of the major figures in the history of British music" and "one of the best white soul voices ever". From 2008 to 2011, Gibb was President of the Heritage Foundation, honouring figures in British culture. After a career spanning six decades, Gibb last performed on stage in February 2012 supporting injured British servicemen and women at a charity concert at the London Palladium. On 20 May 2012, Gibb died at the age of 62 from liver and kidney failure brought on by colorectal cancer.
"August October" is a song written and performed by English singer-songwriter Robin Gibb, the second and the last song released from the album Robin's Reign. It reached #45 in the UK in three weeks. It was also charted in other countries like Germany (#12), New Zealand (#11) and in Denmark (#3). It was backed by "Give Me a Smile", a song also appeared on his debut album. It was released as a single in February 1970, same month on which the album was released. It was later covered by Elton John.
"August October" was recorded at London in October 10, 1969 same day as "Gone Gone Gone" and "Lord Bless All".Gibb's voice on this song was low, especially on the first verse:Autumn and Friday the winds blew, July, September, I knew you, and now I sit on the sand hill, I sing our song to the sea.
The Italian LP Best of Bee Gees, Volume 2 has a mono mix of this song with a fadeout ending (at 2:25), but then it comes to a full ending seconds later. If this was to be a true mono mix, it was hardly used, as most Polydor divisions issued stereo singles, and Atco's mono single appears to be a reduction from stereo. Additionally, for the second time Gibb recorded an Italian alternate vocal.
All The Hits is a compilation album by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler; a 3 CD pack that was released on 14 June, 2013 by the Italian branch of Sony Music Entertainment. The compilation contains tracks from six of Tyler's previous studio albums: Faster Than the Speed of Night (1983), Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire (1986), Hide Your Heart (1988), Bitterblue (1991), Angel Heart (1992) and Silhouette In Red (1993). Also included is a track that Tyler recorded for the 1984 re-make of the science fiction film Metropolis, called "Here She Comes".
The photo used in the artwork was taken by Paul Cox for her 2001 compilation Greatest Hits.
The album became available on the German Amazon store in May 2013, shortly after the release of her latest studio album Rocks and Honey. It is the first compilation album Tyler has released since Best Of 3 CD in 2011, and is the fifth 3CD compilation released in her career.
All The Hits contains 36 tracks spanning a decade of Tyler's career, covering her global success with rock music in the 1980s and European success with soft-rock in the 1990s. Disc one consists mainly of tracks produced by Dieter Bohlen, her producer from 1991 to 1993, with the addition of internationally successful and Grammy nominated singles "Here She Comes" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart", released in the 80s. Discs two and three consist entirely of her 1980s recordings, including a duet with rock singer Frankie Miller and Tyler's cover of Janis Joplin's "Turtle Blues".
The Bee Gees were a pop music band formed in 1958. The band's line-up consisted of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their decades of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang recognisable three-part tight harmonies; Robin's clear vibrato lead vocals were a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. They wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.
Born on the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived in Chorlton, Manchester, England, until the late 1950s, and formed the Rattlesnakes. The family then moved to Redcliffe, in Queensland, Australia, and then to Cribb Island. After achieving their first chart success in Australia as the Bee Gees with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the UK in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience.
The Hits was a music video channel broadcast in the United Kingdom and Ireland, owned by Box Television. In 2008 it was rebranded as 4Music.
The channel showcased a range of pop centred on chart hits and current favourites. Originally, the vast majority of music videos were selected by viewers by means of calling a premium-rate telephone number, however the policy was abandoned with the channel playing an automated selection of videos and countdown shows presented by celebrities and singers past and present. Programming was often themed to coincide with events such as St. Patrick's Day and Christmas.
The channel was available free-to-air on the British digital terrestrial television service Freeview on channel 18. It was also available on Sky Digital, encrypted as a part of Sky's Music Pack. The Hits was also available on Virgin Media and was included in the basic package. It was also be seen through the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

As well as being one third of the Bee Gees, one of the most successful groups of all time around the world, Robin Gibb has also had a successful solo career, with Saved By The Bell reaching No.2 in the UK singles charts as far back as 1969. Following the sad death of his twin brother Maurice in 2003, Robin released Magnet, his first solo album for fifteen years. To coincide with the release of Magnet, Robin Gibb took to the road accompanied by the Frankfurt Neue Philharmonic Orchestra. Working with director Adam Smith, we made a number of video sequences for the live tour. This included an abstract sequence created using oscilloscopes and live electronic synthesiser software. Using Kate Gibb’s silkscreened album cover as a starting point, we also developed an animated TV commercial, incorporating visual elements from the live show and music videos. Anna visited legendary DJ Bernie Quayle (aka Knight of the Turntable!) on his late night show on Manx Radio, and she played this brand new song, Ordinary Comfort. She also chatted to Bernie about supporting Robin Gibb, and appearing on his forthcoming DVD release, and revealed her plans to break into the international market. While she was in the studio, 'new fan' emails came in from Adelaide, California, Melbourne, Detroit & Tasmania, among others! NB: there is some distortion on the audio; this is the on air feed. I want to dedicate this upload of ‘Lonely Day’s to the memory of Maurice and Robin Gibb and to the enduring inspiration and presence of Barry Gibb on the world stage. During my brief role in the Bee Gees journey, it was a privilege to spend time in the studio and on stage with Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb and experience the unfolding magic of their artistry. This live (raw) version of ‘Lonely Days’ is from a concert we played in Melbourne Australia in 1971 (There is a slight 10 second wobble in the footage at 1:07) The tour was sort of a homecoming for the Bee Gees who virtually grew up in Australia after migrating from the UK in the 1950’s and this was the first concert they played in Australia after having left in 1966. By the time of this concert The Bee Gees had become a major intern...
