Coordinates: 33°31′42.00″N 36°17′54.00″E / 33.52833°N 36.29833°E / 33.52833; 36.29833 Abbasiyyin Stadium (Arabic: ملعب العباسيين) in Damascus is an all-seater stadium in Syria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home venue of the Syrian national team. It is also home to Syrian Premier League clubs Al-Wahda, Al-Jaish and Al-Majd. The stadium which was built in 1976 is able to hold up to 30,000 spectators, being the 4th largest stadium in Syria.
The ground was originally opened in 1957 as an special venue for Athletics with a capacity of 10,000 spectators. On the occasion of the 5th Pan Arab Games in 1976, the venue was thoroughly renovated and turned into a football stadium surrounded with an Olympic-standard running track to hold around of 30,000 spectators.
During the most recent renovation in March 2011, Abbasiyyin became an all-seater stadium.
The stadium was the main venue of the 5th and 7th Pan Arab Games in 1976 and 1992 respectively.
