Watch in 480p (high quality). In this video, it shows me and my family's Labor Day afternoon outing here at Pismo Beach, CA. This was my first time here. Their pier/dock was big! It reaches out to the open Pacific. This beach is even bigger than Ocean Beach in San Francisco, CA. The waves here were decent enough for some surfing. We saw people surfing the waves while we were on the pier.
We also saw a few pelicans while on the pier as well. I think this was my first time to see pelicans in person, this close! It was very clear this day, usually it's foggy by the coast most of the time this year. We actually stopped by here from our visit down in Solvang, CA and Lompoc, CA. We were headed home going northward on U.S. 101 but since this was along the way, it wouldn't hurt to pay this beautiful beach a visit. We could also fish around the end of the pier but too bad we didn't have fishing rods.
Then later, it was nearing dinner time so we walked around the town of Pismo Beach. We decided to eat at Brad's Restaurant. I ate fish tacos. It was delicious!
Soon, it was around 7pm and we watched the sun set while we were on the pier. This was my first time seeing a sunset by the sea at the southern end of the Central California Coast, here in Pismo Beach. It was breathtaking. While I was watching the sun set over the horizon, my parents had to go back to the car since they were getting cold. My sister and Richie were somewhere on the beach. I was the only one on the pier.
As soon as the sun has set, I quickly went back to the parking lot since I was getting cold myself. We left the beach around 7:45 p.m.
The remaining of the video shows the rest of the road trip home through the night. We stopped by King City, CA for a restroom/snack break.

I got the chance to take my friends and stay in a beach house right on the ocean in Pismo Beach CA, for a 4 day weekend! I tried to film as much as I could, but didn't get as many surfing shots as I would of liked (due to not having a floaty backdoor) Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Pismo Beach, California
Pismo Beach is a city in San Luis Obispo County, in the Central Coast area of California, United States. The estimate population was 7,931 at 2014, up from 7,655 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Five Cities Area, a cluster of cities in that area of San Luis Obispo County. Its former motto was "Clam Capital of the World", though it is no longer used due to over-harvesting.
History
The first European land exploration of Alta California, the Spanish Portolà expedition, passed through the area, traveling up today's Price Canyon from Pismo Beach, where they camped on September 4, 1769. Franciscan missionary and expedition member Juan Crespi noted in his diary that they found a native village near the creek.
Pismo Beach is located on the Rancho Pismo Mexican land grant made to José Ortega, grandson of José Francisco Ortega, in 1840. In 1846 José Ortega sold Rancho Pismo to Isaac Sparks. John Michael Price bought most of the rancho from Isaac Sparks. Price established the town of Pismo Beach in 1891. His homestead is now Price Historical Park. His home is a registered historical landmark.

Labor Day
Labor Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend and it is considered the unofficial end of summer.
Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. "Labor Day" was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, which organized the first parade in New York City. In 1887, Oregon was the first state of the United States to make it an official public holiday. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, thirty U.S. states officially celebrated Labor Day.
Canada's Labour Day is also celebrated on the first Monday of September. More than 80 countries celebrate International Workers' Day on May 1 – the ancient European holiday of May Day – and several countries have chosen their own dates for Labour Day.

Watch in 480p (high quality). In this video, it shows me and my family's Labor Day afternoon outing here at Pismo Beach, CA. This was my first time here. Their pier/dock was big! I got the chance to take my friends and stay in a beach house right on the ocean in Pismo Beach CA, for a 4 day weekend! I tried to film as much as I could, but didn't get as many surfing shots as I would of liked (due to not having a floaty backdoor) Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Looking at a map, one might think it's just a straight shot up the 5. But those with experience know that this trip can be the longest day of one's life with numerous kids and their incessant "How Much Longers?" So this summer, I vowed to take the 101 up the California Coastline. I also decided to split the trip to make it more of a leisurely excursion. Driving time is approximately three hours from LA and four hours from San Francisco.
If you're looking for some great Pismo Beach hotels, you've gotta get a room with a view. And the best views are found at Shell Beach— one of the nicest sections of town with a secluded resort feeling.
The Spyglass Inn, with its nautical motif, offers great vistas on a budget, while the more elegant Cliffs Resort serves up a tropical-style vibe while also catering to pets. Dolphin Bay is the most upscale of the lot, with its own spa and gourmet restaurant.
Just steps from the sand, all three resorts share a nice walking path along the bluffs that's perfect for sunset strolls or whale watching.

Twice a year, I take the long, arduous drive from east of L.A. to the Bay Area above San Francisco. Looking at a map, one might think it's just a straight shot up the 5. But those with experience know that this trip can be the longest day of one's life with numerous kids and their incessant "How Much Longers?" So this summer, I vowed to take the 101 up the California Coastline. I also decided to split the trip to make it more of a leisurely excursion. Our halfway point was Pismo Beach, a cool surfer town with relaxing hotels along the beach. Of these hotels, we chose the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel as our resting place.

I am not convinced that an independent rail system in Miami Beach will reduce traffic. I am not even sure that a rail system to and from Miami Beach will help us get many cars off the road ...
