This episode covers the Velvet Revolution of 1989 within Czechoslovakia which saw the peaceful overthrow of the Communist Government there. Afterwards, things weren't all sunshine and roses though and latent Nationalist sentiment reared its head again. Both the Czech and Slovak halves of the nation did little to save the union and so divorce it was.

The Dissolution of Czechoslovakia,), which took effect on 1 January 1993, was an event that saw the self-determined split of the federal state of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, entities which had arisen before as the Czech Socialist Republic and the Slovak Socialist Republic in 1969 within the framework of Czechoslovak federalisation.

Extra Information and clarifications.
1:02 Large group leaving church services in Bohemia, Czech Republic in 1897.
1:26 The Area of today's Western Slovakia and Eastern Moravia had and still somewhat has a mixed Czech/Slovak population but I don't show that in these maps as A. A lot of People back than identified as Czechoslovak rather than one or the other and B. I am lazy and didn't want to draw it.
1:26 Keep in mind that the area populated by the Czechs is much more densely populated than the area populated by the Slovaks. So even though on the map it doesn't seem like a big difference, population vise the Czechs are far more numerous.
2:18 These are the official colors of the mentioned Czech parties, blue and darker blue. These tow parties weren't the only parties in Czechia at the time but they where the most prominent.
2:44 Most Czech movements at the end of the 19th century where also dictated by anti-westernism, Russophilia and antisemitism.
