Oftentimes people refer to goals and objectives as if they're the same thing. They are, in fact, different. A goal, used in this context, is a broad definition. For example, saying that you want to become a better runner is a goal. It is general and broad in nature and lacks specifics.
An objective, on the other hand, is quite specific. It further defines a goal. To continue with our running example, an objective can be stated as such, "I would like to run a sub five minute mile." Without question, goals and objectives are similar and can be complementary to each other.
With a goal there is no pressure to be specific. It is, in fact open ended. Setting goals is effective as a broad outline for something you want to achieve. However, because of its fundamental nature of being broad and open-ended, it is not the ideal way to achieve something.
That's where objectives come in. Objectives are defined and measured in both time and by what is accomplished. If there is something meaningful and specific that an individual wants to accomplish then they are far better served defining objectives as opposed to setting goals.
When explaining how objectives work the SMART acronym is commonly used. It is defined as follows:
S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Attainable
R - Realistic
T - Timed
When we understand how the two complement each other we can then formulate a plan to accomplish a desired task. For instance, if you have a goal in mind, the best way to achieve it is to define a series of objectives that will move you toward your goal. Think of it as a roadmap of sorts. Although that may be a bit of a clumsy metaphor.
To summarize, a goal is a broad, direction setting statement. It describes what you want to achieve through your efforts. An objective is more specific and has the potential to be measured. Both are designed to get you to take action and work quite well to complement each other when one understands the distinction between the two.
So the next time you want to achieve something remember to state your goal and then further define it by outlining your objectives. By doing that you will have focus and direction as you move toward your stated purpose. That's how to effectively put goals and objectives to work for you.

There has always been a close relationship between architecture and technology. Yet, in recent times, architecture has stagnated and the construction industry has been slow to adopt technologies that are already well established in other fields. Robotics and Additive Manufacturing offer great potential towards innovation within the construction industry.
A research group at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (www.iaac.net), based in Barcelona set on a goal of reelaborating 3D printing techniques so as to overcome existing limitations of this technique in large-scale.
The objective was to develop a family of small scale construction robots, all mobile and capable of constructing objects far larger than the robot itself. Moreover, each of the robots developed was to perform a diverse task, linked to the different phases of construction, finally working together as a family towards the implementation of a single structural outcome. Hence, instead of one large machine, a number of much smaller robots working independently, but in coordination, towards a single goal.

Goal
A goal is a desired result that a person or a system envisions, plans and commits to achieve: a personal or organizational desired end-point in some sort of assumed development. Many people endeavor to reach goals within a finite time by setting deadlines.
It is roughly similar to purpose or aim, the anticipated result which guides reaction, or an end, which is an object, either a physical object or an abstract object, that has intrinsic value.
Goal setting
Goal setting may involve establishing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bounded (SMART) objectives, but not all researchers agree that these SMART criteria are necessary.
Research on goal setting by Edwin A. Locke and his colleagues suggests that goal setting can serve as an effective tool for making progress when it ensures that group members have a clear awareness of what each person must do to achieve a shared objective. On a personal level, the process of setting goals allows individuals to specify and then work toward their own objectives (such as financial or career-based goals). Goal-setting comprises a major component of personal development and management.

Business English is English language especially related to international trade. The concept moved away from flashy, high gloss graphics to a hand-made stop motion aesthetic. The idea was that it's fun to color outside the lines. Ink art doodles became full-color illustrations spreading over floors and walls. Paper cut-outs clicked into interlocking steel shapes spelling out the Boogie name. Brenden Borrellini was born completely deaf and with limited sight that developed into complete blindness. Although that may be a bit of a clumsy metaphor.
To summarize, a goal is a broad, direction setting statement. It describes what you want to achieve through your efforts. An objective is more specific and has the potential to be measured. Both are designed to get you to take action and work quite well to complement each other when one understands the distinction between the two.
So the next time you want to achieve something remember to state your goal and then further define it by outlining your objectives. By doing that you will have focus and direction as you move toward your stated purpose. That's how to effectively put goals and objectives to work for you.

There has always been a close relationship between architecture and technology. Yet, in recent times, architecture has stagnated and the construction industry has been slow to adopt technologies that are already well established in other fields. Robotics and Additive Manufacturing offer great potential towards innovation within the construction industry.
A research group at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (www.iaac.net), based in Barcelona set on a goal of reelaborating 3D printing techniques so as to overcome existing limitations of this technique in large-scale.
The objective was to develop a family of small scale construction robots, all mobile and capable of constructing objects far larger than the robot itself. Moreover, each of the robots developed was to perform a diverse task, linked to the different phases of construction, finally working together as a family towards the implementation of a single structural outcome. Hence, instead of one large machine, a number of much smaller robots working independently, but in coordination, towards a single goal.

Australian Hannah Fraser, the world's most celebrated mermaid/underwater model and a dedicated conservationist, decided to dive head-first into the battle and make a profound statement in opposition to her government' shark cull philosophy. Teaming up with Emmy Award winning cinematographer and photographer Shawn Heinrichs, and the world's leading authority on interactions with large "predatory" sharks, Jim Abernethy, the trio embarked on a dangerous mission, the likes of which has never before been attempted.
Their objective - to present these magnificent creatures in a true and positive light by capturing iconic imagery of Hannah face-to-face with a massive 15 foot tiger shark, her hand resting gently on it's massive head. What made this shoot entirely unique was that Hannah was devoid of any scuba or free-dive gear, dressed only in a tiny costume and airbrush body paint to create the perfect artistic vision. Without mask, fins or any sort of protective gear, she had to rely solely on her skills, training and experience, along with the diligent support of her expert team, to ensure the shoot went off without a hitch. There was no room for error, as one mistake could have resulted in severe injury or worse. Despite the risks, the team was resolute in their mission to create the most groundbreaking imagery to oppose not only the Australia shark cull, but also the global slaughter of sharks
In a knee-jerk response to several shark attacks off the west coast of Australia, the West Australian (WA) government implemented a shark cull to make beaches "safe" again for bathers. Despite intense domestic and international opposition, and overwhelming scientific evidence disproving the effectiveness and justification for the cull, the WA government remained resolute in carrying out the cull. Among the species most effected are Tiger Sharks, and despite the critical ecological role this species plays, and the fact that their numbers have already been severely depleted throughout their range, and having just concluded the initial cull period, the government appears committed to reinstating the cull when they deem "appropriate. Premier Colin Barnett claimed the policy has been a success, stating 'They were tiger sharks. They are proven around the world to be a dangerous shark.'
Imagery of this nature has never been seen before, and the team believes it will surely bring significant international attention to the global plight of sharks. This is just one exciting chapter in Hannah and Shawn's journey to bring these stories of inspiration to the planet, with the goal of putting a stop to destruction of our oceans. Their journey together will be told in a new feature film "Tears of a Mermaid" to be released next year.

Denmark's national broadcaster DR (Denmark's Radio) came to us with a clear objective for its annual music award show "BOOGIE PRISEN": create something fun that would inspire kids to be creative. The concept moved away from flashy, high gloss graphics to a hand-made stop motion aesthetic. The idea was that it's fun to color outside the lines. Ink art doodles became full-color illustrations spreading over floors and walls. Paper cut-outs clicked into interlocking steel shapes spelling out the Boogie name. For this energetic, fast-paced piece, we re-discovered what it means to be a kid, to imagine and create with enjoyment being the only goal.

Brenden Borrellini was born completely deaf and with limited sight that developed into complete blindness. His disability presented many obstacles for him growing up but with a lot of hard work and help from the Special Education Unit at the Cavendish Road State School in Brisbane, he became the first deaf and blind student to finish his high school education and to attend University.
In 1989 he was nationally recognised and won the young Australian of the Year award for his academic achievements. But Brenden didn't stop there.
It was after moving from Brisbane to Mackay that Brenden met Steve Mayer-Miller, Artistic Director for Crossroad Arts, a local organisation that develops opportunities for people with a disability to access and participate in the arts.
Steve says that the whole idea of photography for somebody who is deaf and blind was completely new to him. He had worked with deaf people before and blind people before but the combination of the disabilities was uncharted territory.
After showing Brenden the buttons on the camera he very quickly took the initiative and started taking pictures.
A blind photographer... How does that work?
Steve wanted to start giving Brenden feedback on the photos he was taking so he worked on a structure where Brenden would receive objective, technical and subjective feedback about the photographs he was taking.
Using a device that converts text to braille, the people working with Brenden are able to give him their objective view by explaining the photograph in detail.
Brenden then receives the technical feedback using photography language like composition, light, shutter effect and depth.
Then the subjective interpretations of the photograph the emotions that each person felt so Brendan would get three different points of view.
What is Brendan seeing?
This question led the group to research devices that would enable a two dimensional photograph to become a three dimensional photograph so that Brendan could also be able to interpret the textures in the photograph.
The aesthetic of photography was never really the goal. It’s more about the experience of taking a photo rather than the resultant photo itself.
The process is helping break Brenden’s feelings of isolation caused by his disability and connecting him with his community.

The main objective was to create an animation connecting both the sports and the reporting world while keeping the look fresh and contemporary. Our goal was to create a bumper that reflected the youthful energy and irreverent personality of the on-air host “Cabbie”. With no access to live action footage and still images the challenge was to build a fully graphical animation package under a two-week deadline. The result was a dynamic travel combining core sport elements with a modern take on a reporter’s microphone. The intended audience was male 18-55 and was successful in gathering new viewership from a younger demographic.

Communication Objective:
A thunderstorm separates a young branch from his mother tree, and sends him falling into the town below. The small sapling, named Ramus, awakens and quickly realizes that this may be his worst nightmare. The sights and sounds of his fallen comrades surround him in a cacaphony of saw buzzing and wood crackling. Getting back home becomes his only hope for survival.
The goal of this project was to create a piece that was both entertaining and displayed both of our technical and creative strengths. We incorporated the use of both 2D and 3D softwares to develop the initial look and feel of the piece as well as execute the final results.
Product Usage:
Photoshop was primarily used for character/look/RnD/storyboard development, textures and matte paints. Premiere was used to create the initial edit of our project, as well as checking continuity of shots and color. After Effects was used for some compositing and the final edit, where final color grading and the credits were done. Bridge was used for file management of all of our image sequences and textures. Finally Media Encoder and Player were used during the output of our final movie files.

Music: Dj Budha Featured: onedotzero 08 Denmark's national broadcaster DR (Denmark's Radio) came to us with a clear objective for its annual music award show "BOOGIE PRISEN": create something fun that would inspire kids to be creative. The concept moved away from flashy, high gloss graphics to a hand-made stop motion aesthetic. The idea was that it's fun to color outside the lines. Ink art doodles became full-color illustrations spreading over floors and walls. Paper cut-outs clicked into interlocking steel shapes spelling out the Boogie name. Brenden Borrellini was born completely deaf and with limited sight that developed into complete blindness. His disability presented many obstacles for him growing up but with a lot of hard work and help from the Special Education Unit at the Cavendish Road State School in Brisbane, he became the first deaf and blind student to finish his high school education and to attend University. Robotics and Additive Manufacturing offer great potential towards innovation within the construction industry.
A research group at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (www.iaac.net), based in Barcelona set on a goal of reelaborating 3D printing techniques so as to overcome existing limitations of this technique in large-scale.
The objective was to develop a family of small scale construction robots, all mobile and capable of constructing objects far larger than the robot itself. Moreover, each of the robots developed was to perform a diverse task, linked to the different phases of construction, finally working together as a family towards the implementation of a single structural outcome. Hence, instead of one large machine, a number of much smaller robots working independently, but in coordination, towards a single goal.

Australian Hannah Fraser, the world's most celebrated mermaid/underwater model and a dedicated conservationist, decided to dive head-first into the battle and make a profound statement in opposition to her government' shark cull philosophy. Teaming up with Emmy Award winning cinematographer and photographer Shawn Heinrichs, and the world's leading authority on interactions with large "predatory" sharks, Jim Abernethy, the trio embarked on a dangerous mission, the likes of which has never before been attempted.
Their objective - to present these magnificent creatures in a true and positive light by capturing iconic imagery of Hannah face-to-face with a massive 15 foot tiger shark, her hand resting gently on it's massive head. What made this shoot entirely unique was that Hannah was devoid of any scuba or free-dive gear, dressed only in a tiny costume and airbrush body paint to create the perfect artistic vision. Without mask, fins or any sort of protective gear, she had to rely solely on her skills, training and experience, along with the diligent support of her expert team, to ensure the shoot went off without a hitch. There was no room for error, as one mistake could have resulted in severe injury or worse. Despite the risks, the team was resolute in their mission to create the most groundbreaking imagery to oppose not only the Australia shark cull, but also the global slaughter of sharks
In a knee-jerk response to several shark attacks off the west coast of Australia, the West Australian (WA) government implemented a shark cull to make beaches "safe" again for bathers. Despite intense domestic and international opposition, and overwhelming scientific evidence disproving the effectiveness and justification for the cull, the WA government remained resolute in carrying out the cull. Among the species most effected are Tiger Sharks, and despite the critical ecological role this species plays, and the fact that their numbers have already been severely depleted throughout their range, and having just concluded the initial cull period, the government appears committed to reinstating the cull when they deem "appropriate. Premier Colin Barnett claimed the policy has been a success, stating 'They were tiger sharks. They are proven around the world to be a dangerous shark.'
Imagery of this nature has never been seen before, and the team believes it will surely bring significant international attention to the global plight of sharks. This is just one exciting chapter in Hannah and Shawn's journey to bring these stories of inspiration to the planet, with the goal of putting a stop to destruction of our oceans. Their journey together will be told in a new feature film "Tears of a Mermaid" to be released next year.

The concept moved away from flashy, high gloss graphics to a hand-made stop motion aesthetic. The idea was that it's fun to color outside the lines. Ink art doodles became full-color illustrations spreading over floors and walls. Paper cut-outs clicked into interlocking steel shapes spelling out the Boogie name. For this energetic, fast-paced piece, we re-discovered what it means to be a kid, to imagine and create with enjoyment being the only goal.

Brenden Borrellini was born completely deaf and with limited sight that developed into complete blindness. His disability presented many obstacles for him growing up but with a lot of hard work and help from the Special Education Unit at the Cavendish Road State School in Brisbane, he became the first deaf and blind student to finish his high school education and to attend University.
In 1989 he was nationally recognised and won the young Australian of the Year award for his academic achievements. But Brenden didn't stop there.
It was after moving from Brisbane to Mackay that Brenden met Steve Mayer-Miller, Artistic Director for Crossroad Arts, a local organisation that develops opportunities for people with a disability to access and participate in the arts.
Steve says that the whole idea of photography for somebody who is deaf and blind was completely new to him. He had worked with deaf people before and blind people before but the combination of the disabilities was uncharted territory.
After showing Brenden the buttons on the camera he very quickly took the initiative and started taking pictures.
A blind photographer... How does that work?
Steve wanted to start giving Brenden feedback on the photos he was taking so he worked on a structure where Brenden would receive objective, technical and subjective feedback about the photographs he was taking.
Using a device that converts text to braille, the people working with Brenden are able to give him their objective view by explaining the photograph in detail.
Brenden then receives the technical feedback using photography language like composition, light, shutter effect and depth.
Then the subjective interpretations of the photograph the emotions that each person felt so Brendan would get three different points of view.
What is Brendan seeing?
This question led the group to research devices that would enable a two dimensional photograph to become a three dimensional photograph so that Brendan could also be able to interpret the textures in the photograph.
The aesthetic of photography was never really the goal. It’s more about the experience of taking a photo rather than the resultant photo itself.
The process is helping break Brenden’s feelings of isolation caused by his disability and connecting him with his community.

Cabbie Presents is a show that features interviews and segments with athletes and professionals from all spectrums of sport in a more humorous light. The main objective was to create an animation connecting both the sports and the reporting world while keeping the look fresh and contemporary. Our goal was to create a bumper that reflected the youthful energy and irreverent personality of the on-air host “Cabbie”. With no access to live action footage and still images the challenge was to build a fully graphical animation package under a two-week deadline. The result was a dynamic travel combining core sport elements with a modern take on a reporter’s microphone. The intended audience was male 18-55 and was successful in gathering new viewership from a younger demographic.

Cabbie Presents is a show that features interviews and segments with athletes and professionals from all spectrums of sport in a more humorous light. The main objective was to create an animation connecting both the sports and the reporting world while keeping the look fresh and contemporary. Our goal was to create a bumper that reflected the youthful energy and irreverent personality of the on-air host “Cabbie”. With no access to live action footage and still images the challenge was to build a fully graphical animation package under a two-week deadline. The result was a dynamic travel combining core sport elements with a modern take on a reporter’s microphone. The intended audience was male 18-55 and was successful in gathering new viewership from a younger demographic.

Communication Objective:
A thunderstorm separates a young branch from his mother tree, and sends him falling into the town below. The small sapling, named Ramus, awakens and quickly realizes that this may be his worst nightmare. The sights and sounds of his fallen comrades surround him in a cacaphony of saw buzzing and wood crackling. Getting back home becomes his only hope for survival.
The goal of this project was to create a piece that was both entertaining and displayed both of our technical and creative strengths. We incorporated the use of both 2D and 3D softwares to develop the initial look and feel of the piece as well as execute the final results.
Product Usage:
Photoshop was primarily used for character/look/RnD/storyboard development, textures and matte paints. Premiere was used to create the initial edit of our project, as well as checking continuity of shots and color. After Effects was used for some compositing and the final edit, where final color grading and the credits were done. Bridge was used for file management of all of our image sequences and textures. This is supported by a recent study done with 149 people from 6 countries and dozens of occupations that revealed people who had written goals were 50% more likely to achieve them than those without written goals. Even more importantly, those who had written goals accompanied by written action commitments AND who submitted a weekly progress report to a friend, mentor or coach were 78% more likely to achieve their goals than those people who were simply asked to think about what they would like to achieve.
Every year at this time without fail we hear reference to "New Year's Resolutions" but all too soon they become quickly forgotten. Of all the things that contribute to success in business and life, goal setting is the most important ... provided your goals meet three specific conditions that will be revealed during the workshop.
When you have a goal you have something to aim for, something that will challenge you which is a primary source of personal motivation. Here tests are taken upon highly durable human clones using newest weapon technologies. Your goal is to head these tests. Will you destroy the test object using all available arsenal? Here is a wide range of various weapons waiting to be used for the most insidious purposes! Melee, energetic, firearm and even a black hole. Combine it at your desire! You may have a cup of hot coffee while another clone is being ripped by a circular saw and at the same time roasted by a flamethrower. Cruel?.. Maybe, anyway those test objects are just artificially grown human clones. So whatever, put your feet on the table and have no worry about a thing. Let your nerves relax, to the laboratory!
Happy Room is based on our old flash game Ragdoll Achievement & Ragdoll Achievement 2, but have lots more content and features. Happy Room plays similar to Happy Wheels!
