He left CBS in 1985 for Tribune Broadcasting, where he anchored the nationally syndicated INN: The Independent News as well as newscasts on Tribune's New York station WPIX. Dean joined ABC in 1988 and for several years, he anchored the newscasts on the network's Good Morning America (1993-1996). Dean also traveled extensively covering breaking stories around the world. More recent years have witnessed Dean doing voiceover work for documentaries on A&E and The History Channel, in addition to writing a book on sports injuries. A general Promo introducing Morton Dean to the PIX Payroll, and taking several swipes at Channel 5 at the same time. This was actually a pretty big coup at the time since Dean's previous job was as a reporter for CBS. Dean would be at PIX for about 5 years until heading for ABC next to do "World News: This Morning" for the next decade.
