A wishing well is a term of folklore European to describe the wells in which it is thought expressed any wish it would be granted. The idea that a wish would be granted came from the belief that there were gods contained in the water or had been placed there as a gift of the gods, since water was a source of life and often was a scarce commodity.
Water is considered to contain healing powers and therefore the wells became popular among many people who drank, bathed or simply expressing wishes about her. People believe that the guards or the inhabitants of the well would be granted their wish if they paid a price. Generally, after pronouncing the desire, one should throw coins into the well. The desire would then be granted by the guardian or inhabitant, based on how the coin would land on the bottom of the well. If the coin landed face up the wish would be granted. If the coin landing tails up the desire would not be granted. The tradition of throwing coins into small ponds and fountains comes from this. The coins would be placed there as gifts to the deity in the form of thanks.
In November 2006, the Money Mountain reported that tourists were throwing a little over 3 million pounds per year in wishing well. It is also important to note that the presence of the coins, generally made in copper or silver, producing a chemical reaction which keeps the water to become acidic. To date, wishing wells are used mainly to raise funds for the causes disparate; the tradition still persists, and are known several wells and money fountains where people are used to throw pennies ; a famous example in Italy is the Trevi money fountain. The calls are very numerous popular culture, especially in novels, movies and video games field of fantasy.
The Wishing Well is a term used in European folklore. What is meant is a money fountain that makes every submission to him wish come true. Background was the belief that the water carrying divine essence in itself or had been placed by divinities in a particular place. The tradition of throwing coins into wells, comes from this idea. The coins represent the thank you is for the fulfilled or still to be fulfilled desires. One of the famous Wishing Well the world is the money fountain in Rome.
A source or pylon is a supplier of water, as an element that architecture is typically located in a urban space for utilitarian purposes, ambient or decorative comfort. Thus, the sources are in courtyards, gardens, squares, or in unique places in the city, embellishing and emphasizing its importance.
Fountains in the air are usually collected again in a tank and recirculated. In cities money fountains are common in public parks or gardens or on representative places as decorative elements or attractions to see. Fountain with water features can also cascade include different shaped watercourses or operated by the water mechanisms.
There is a fundamental distinction between natural and artificial money fountains. Fountain, where the water must not be transported upwards, are natural money fountains. These are located in places where the groundwater is under pressure because the water table is higher than the bottom, and thus has a high hydraulic head. There, a hole is made, through which the water in a natural way to escape. This is called artesian spring. The artesian wells, which from the ground as water jet, emerging recognizable was, 1126 for the first time as used in Artois. The recently declared fountains are among the deep wells. However, the simplest money fountain is a simple catch basin, is collected with the water from a spring before it can become a stream.
Artificial money fountains usually consist of pumping fountains, cascades, spray nozzles and waterfalls. Even in ancient times there were money fountains, sculptures made mostly with scattered water outlets. The ancient Egyptians had ingenious systems for lifting water from the Nile for drinking and irrigation, but without a higher water source, it has not been possible to make a water flow which overcame gravity, and no Egyptian money fountains or images of money fountains have been ever found.

The Kingdom of Aragon was founded in 1035 by the union of the counties of Aragon, Sobrarbe and Ribagorza in the figure of Ramiro I will last until. 1707, when Felipe V promulgated the Decrees of New Plant, by which the kingdom is integrated into the Kingdom of Spain.
The marriage of Andregoto, daughter of Count Galindo II of Aragon, the king García Sánchez I of Navarra, led to the union of the two political entities. The County of Aragon continued to retain a certain personality that had been reinforced by the revival of monastic life and the organization of a matching diocese with county boundaries.
In 1700, with the death of Charles II, he was proclaimed king of Castile and Aragon, triggering the War of Spanish Succession. The Crown of Aragon sided with Archduke Carlos, the other suitor. When the war ended, Felipe V promulgated the Decrees of New Plant, which were abolished by all institutions of the Crown of Aragon, who disappeared and was integrated into centralized Spain.
The Plaça del Rei is one of the most emblematic of the city of Barcelona, located in the Gothic Quarter. Keep rectangular arrangement arising from urbanization project that took place during the reign of Martin the Humane in the second half of the fourteenth century. This project is intended to make a place where long be able to hold tournaments and eliminate thus the market that are traditionally made. The King's Square has been the county's historical and royal power in the city.
It is a monumental square surrounded by Gothic and Renaissance buildings and enclosed on all sides except the south-west, where it communicates with the Cathedral through the Baixada de Santa Clara and the street in Llibreteria Veguer across the street. On the northern side stands in front of the Royal Palace, Gothic tower of the Mirador del Rei Martí on the far left, where you get a good view of the medieval city.
The first archaeological soundings were negative to a power stratigraphic 3.50 m. There he documented the remains of a building with three naves separated by columns, which were interpreted as primitive Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The columns were of unequal diameter; Three were of stone, a marble and the other of granite. The latter must exceed the required size in length and had been sunk into the floor; the marble had fluted bottom and was joined at the base by a cylindrical brass bolt.
After the Civil War, the demolition of several buildings had uncovered all the dependencies room Tinell and the Royal Palace. However, in 1954 it launched an operation to carry out restoration and conservation. The aim was to liberate the Gothic structure of buildings added later, but without damaging it.
The name comes from the Royal Palace of the Counts of Barcelona and its chapel, St. Agatha. Date at least the thirteenth century. Over the centuries has witnessed many historical events. The place is on all sides by Gothic and Renaissance surrounded, just to the southeast side of it is through the Baixada de Santa Clara with the Cathedral and controlled by the Carrer de la Llibreteria with the Carrer del Veguer.
On the southern part of the Plaça del Rei, the sculpture Topos V of the artist was Eduardo Chillida erected. Many years ago, there is a pillar of the temple of Augustus was found, which can be today at the Centre Excursionista in the Carrer del Paradís. Due to its closed design and its acoustics Kings Plaza is often used for concerts and other events.
Meanwhile Christopher Columbus began the expedition that took him to discover the New World, the Americas, although Columbus thought he had always found the passage to the Indies. By the Treaty of Tordesillas of 1494, the world beyond Europe was spread between the crowns of Portugal and Castile by a north-south line of the Atlantic Ocean. Could it be that King Ferdinand had expressly forbidden his subjects colonization of America.
In addition, as mentioned above, there is historical evidence that sailors Vikings had reached America in the Middle Ages. However, it is true that the journey of Columbus established a definite link between Europe and America, which led to the conquest and colonization of the New World by the powers in Europe in the following centuries.

Catherine's marriage to Arthur, Prince of Wales, ends with his early death. Over the next few years, Catherine faces money trouble and arrangements for her to marry Prince Henry are unclear. When Henry VII dies, Henry VIII chooses Catherine as his wife, as his dying father requested. After a short scene of Catherine's son's death (her second pregnancy, after a stillbirth), and her weeping in Henry's arms, the programme cuts to her older days where Henry falls in love with Anne Boleyn. Henry wants a male heir and after several pregnancies only one child of Catherine's and Henry's has survived, the princess Mary (the future Queen Mary I). Catherine is heartbroken when Henry tells her he wants a divorce. There are several court scenes discussing the annulment. Cardinal Thomas Wolsey does all he can to accomplish Henry's desire for a divorce from Catherine, but ultimately fails (and later dies en route to the Tower of London). Henry attempts to have a Papal Trial in England, to call into question the validity of his marriage to Catherine. But when Rome and the Pope revoke this attempt, Henry begins his break with the Catholic Church and starts to sow the seeds of the eventual English Reformation. Catherine is eventually told her marriage to Henry has been annulled, and that Henry has married Anne. Catherine is moved to Wolsey's house until she dies, with María de Salinas (her most faithful servant) by her side. While there, they receive the news that Anne has had her child, the future queen Elizabeth I. The episode ends with Catherine dying in her bed, María de Salinas beside her and Henry reading a loving final letter from Catherine. Henry crushes the letter callously, and walks dominatingly towards the camera, resembling the Hans Holbein portrait.

You will not find a better example of Mudejar architecture than in Aragon, Spain.
The roots of this architectural style lies in the socio-political environment prevalent in the country at that time.
Elaborate and svelte stonework with a number of domes and towers have been featured in these structures.
Glazed ceramic tiles with gorgeous motifs, wood carvings, sophisticated plasterwork are some of the features that can be seen in the monuments.
Since Spain was long ruled by the Muslims, Moorish architecture can be seen in many of the buildings here.
The square tower of Teruel or San Martín church tower was made with lovely colored tiles, glazed ceramic designing, and an impressive craftsmanship.
Aragon prides itself with its numerous historical monuments on UNESCO World Heritage List.

Travel video about destination Barcelona in Spain.
Barcelona is one of the most lively harbor cities on the Mediterranean and after Madrid, Spain's second largest city and the capital of Catalonia. Intimate squares, small palaces and tangled alleys provide a good insight into its history as Iberians, Greeks and Romans once had trading posts there.
La Rambla is a wide and shady boulevard that travels through the old town to the harbor and is where life goes on both night and day. It's also where street artists perform, shoeblacks work diligently and portrait painters tout for trade among the passing tourists.
The Museu Marítim is situated in the royal dockyards of Drassanes, that were built when the city was at its zenith. Its buildings are unique examples of Gothic architecture and the vast dimensions of the dockyard allowed 30 ships to be built simultaneously in the name of the Catalonian-Aragon crown.
Few parks are as famous as the Park Güell. With this, Antoni Gaudi created a new design concept in this fabulous garden city. At its entrance, Gaudi placed a colorful lizard as a symbol of the water that is collected in subterranean cisterns and is used for the distribution of water in the park. The city itself is also featured in Gaudi's magnificent fantasies. The Palau Güell was treated to an ostentatious roof with a great array of air shafts and chimneys. But the sight that captures the imagination of most who see it is the amazing façade of the Casa Mila, a unique apartment block without equal. Not a single wall is straight, glass and plaster were used for its façade and colourful ornamental ceramics complete the work.
Barcelona is a melting pot that ranges from Gothic to Modernism, a veritable explosion of joie de vivre and creativity.

Travel video about destination Napoli.
Napoli is the capital of Campania in southern Italy where hustle and bustle combines with serenity and joie de vivre. The Centro Storico Monumentale is located around the harbour and the Piazza Del Plebiscito embodies both grandeur and vastness, in contrast to the narrow confines of the old town. Close to the harbour is the mighty Castel Nuovo, its graceful entrance arch seemingly hemmed-in by two awkward-looking towers. Its construction began during the reign of Charles The First but Alfons Of Aragon subsequently had the castle completely rebuilt. From the centre of the town a small causeway leads to the tiny island of Borgo Santa Lucia. The island is dominated by a building which in ancient times was the residence of Lucullus, namely the Castel Dell´Ovo, the oldest fortress in Naples. The Via Partenope, with its magnificent buildings and luxury hotels on the coast near Santa Lucia, developed by land reclamation in the nineteenth century. A walk along the Caracciolo coastal road towards Mergellina passes the Parco Communale with palm trees, sculptures and fountains. Measuring four square kilometres, Procida is the smallest island off Naples, densely populated and with a long history and the picturesque Marina Grande at the Cattolocio Ferry Port typifies relaxed island life. Ischia, the island of Titan Tiphoios, is the largest of the three islands in the Gulf Of Naples, each one now being a very popular tourist destination. "A piece of heaven that fell to Earth”, that is how the Neapolitans rightly refer to their beautiful city and its surroundings.

Barcelona (/bɑrsəˈloʊnə/, Catalan: [bəɾsəˈlonə], Spanish: [barθeˈlona]) is the capital city of the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain and the country's 2nd largest city, with a population of 1.6 million[2] within its administrative limits. Its urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 4.5 million people, being the sixth-most populous urban area in the European Union after Paris, London, Madrid, the Ruhr area and Milan. About five million people live in the Barcelona metropolitan area.[3][4][5][6][7] It is the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean Sea, located on the coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs, and bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola mountain range, the tallest peak of which is 512 metres (1,680 ft) high.
Founded as a Roman city, in the Middle Ages Barcelona became the capital of the County of Barcelona. After merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, Barcelona continued to be an important city in the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona has a rich cultural heritage and is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination. Particularly renowned are the architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner, which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean is located in Barcelona. The city is known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as world-class conferences and expositions and also many international sport tournaments.
Barcelona is one of the world's leading tourist, economic, trade fair and cultural centres, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities.[8][9] It is a major cultural and economic centre in southwestern Europe, 24th in the world (before Zürich, after Frankfurt)[10] and a financial centre. In 2008 it was the fourth most economically powerful city by GDP in the European Union and 35th in the world with GDP amounting to €177 billion.[11] In 2012 Barcelona had a GDP of $170 billion; it is leading Spain on both employment and GDP per capita change.[12] In 2009 the city was ranked Europe's third and one of the world's most successful as a city brand.[13] In the same year the city was ranked Europe's fourth best city for business and fastest improving European city, with growth improved by 17% per year,[14] but it has since been in a full recession with declines in both employment and GDP per capita, with some recent signs of the beginning of an economic recovery.[15] Since 2011 Barcelona is a leading smart city in Europe.[16] Barcelona is a transport hub with the Port of Barcelona being one of Europe's principal seaports and busiest European passenger port,[17] an international airport, Barcelona–El Prat Airport, which handles above 35 million passengers per year,[18] an extensive motorway network and a high-speed rail line with a link to France and the rest of Europe.

This video was filmed to complete the second phase of "The Think Big" program, in which we were finally selected. In this footage you can watch part of our project about Unique Trees in the region of Molina de Aragón and Alto Tajo.
Our goal is to complete the project by developing and publishing a book that serves as a "guide of Unique Trees" with the aim to preserve the natural heritage in which they reside.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Crusader Kings II HIP Mod - Kingdom of Aragon 1
Let's play Crusader Kings II with the Historical Immersion Project (HIP) mod! We will be leading the Jimena dynasty of Aragon into fame with good old fashioned fun---that is, by war, seduction, or whatever it takes to carve our name in history.
I am running CK2 with all large expansions, except Rajas of India.

Aragon: once more, with feeling! As said before on episode 3 of the previous series, my save was erased after an update, so I decided to restart this campaign.
Let's play Crusader Kings II with the Historical Immersion Project (HIP) mod! We will be leading the Jimena dynasty of Aragon into fame with good old fashioned fun---that is, by war, seduction, or whatever it takes to carve our name in history.
I am running CK2 with all major expansions, except Rajas of India.

Margaret of Anjou (French: Marguerite d'Anjou) (23 March 1430 -- 25 August 1482) was the wife of King Henry VI of England. As such, she was Queen consort of England from 1445 to 1461 and again from 1470 to 1471. She also claimed to be Queen consort of France from 1445 to 1453. Born in the Duchy of Lorraine, into the House of Valois-Anjou, Margaret was the second eldest daughter of René I of Naples and Isabella, Duchess of Lorraine.
She was one of the principal figures in the series of dynastic civil wars known as the Wars of the Roses and at times personally led the Lancastrian faction. Due to her husband's frequent bouts of insanity, Margaret ruled the kingdom in his place. It was she who called for a Great Council in May 1455 that excluded the Yorkist faction headed by Richard, Duke of York, and thus provided the spark that ignited a civil conflict that lasted for over thirty years, decimated the old nobility of England, and caused the deaths of thousands of men, including her only son Edward of Westminster, Prince of Wales, at the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471.
Margaret was taken prisoner by the victorious Yorkists after the Lancastrian defeat at Tewkesbury. In 1475, she was ransomed by her cousin, King Louis XI of France. She went to live in France as a poor relation of the French king, and she died there at the age of 52.
EARLY LIFE AND MARRIAGE OF MARGARET OF ANJOU
Margaret was born on 23 March 1430[1] at Pont-à-Mousson in the Duchy of Lorraine, an imperial fief east of France that was ruled by the cadet branch of the French kings, the House of Valois-Anjou. Margaret was the second eldest daughter of René of Anjou and Isabella, Duchess of Lorraine. She had five brothers and four sisters, as well as three half-siblings from her father's relationships with mistresses.[2] Her father, popularly known as "Good King René" was Duke of Anjou and titular King of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem; he has been described as "a man of many crowns but no kingdoms".[3] Margaret was baptised at Toul in Lorraine and, in the care of her father's old nurse Theophanie la Magine, she spent her early years at the castle of Tarascon on the River Rhône in southern France and the old royal palace at Capua in Naples. Her mother took care of her education and may have arranged for her to have lessons with the scholar Antoine de la Sale, who taught her brothers. In childhood Margaret was known as la petite creature
-
On 23 April 1445, Margaret married King Henry VI of England, who was eight years her senior, at Titchfield in Hampshire. Henry at the time also claimed the Kingdom of France and controlled various parts of northern France. Margaret's uncle Charles VII, who also claimed the crown of France, agreed to the marriage of his niece to his rival on the condition that he would not have to provide the customary dowry and instead would receive the lands of Maine and Anjou from the English. This provision was kept secret from the English public, since a highly negative reaction was feared.
Margaret was crowned Queen consort of England on 30 May 1445 at Westminster Abbey by John Stafford, Archbishop of Canterbury.[2] She was fifteen years old. She was described as beautiful, and furthermore "already a woman: passionate and proud and strong-willed".[4] It was felt that she already understood her duty to protect the interests of the Crown fervently.[4] She seems to have inherited this indomitability from her mother, who fought to establish her husband's claim to the Kingdom of Naples, and her paternal grandmother Yolande of Aragon, who actually governed Anjou "with a man's hand", putting the province in order and keeping out the English.[4] Thus by family example and her own forceful personality, she was fully capable of becoming the "champion of the Crown"
