The following is a list of the sixty-seven counties of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the United States of America. The city of Philadelphia is coterminous with Philadelphia County, and governmental functions have been consolidated since 1854. Eight of the ten most populous counties are in the southeastern portion of the state, including four out of the top five as well.
The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) code, used by the United States government to uniquely identify counties, is provided with each entry. FIPS codes are five-digit numbers; for Pennsylvania the codes start with 42 and are completed with the three-digit county code. The FIPS code for each county in the table links to census data for that county.

The Appalachian Mountains run through its middle. The state borders Delaware to the southeast, Maryland to the south, West Virginia to the southwest, Ohio to the west, Lake Erie and the Canadian province of Ontario to the northwest, New York to the north, and New Jersey to the east.

Pennsylvania has 51 miles (82 km) of coastline along Lake Erie and 57 miles (92 km) of shoreline along the Delaware Estuary.
The state is one of the 13 original founding states of the United States; it was originally founded in 1681 as a result of a royal land grant to William Penn, the son of the state's namesake. It was the second state to ratify the United States Constitution, on December 12, 1787. Independence Hall, where the United States Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution were drafted, is located in the state's largest city of Philadelphia. During the American Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg was fought in the south central region of the state.

http://bookinghunter.com Philadelphia is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the second largest city on the East Coast of the United States, and the fifth-most-populous city in the United States.[1] It is located in the Northeastern United States along the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers, and it is the only consolidated city-county in Pennsylvania. The most important places to visit in Philadelphia are: Franklin Court (was raised in 1812, the ghost of it still stands today. Here is the Christ Church Burial Ground, another famous landmark, where Ben Franklin and four other signers of the Declaration of Independence were laid to rest), Congress Hall (was home of the first Congress. On top of that, George Washington and John Adams were inaugurated here, and the Bill of Righ...

The Keystone state -- key to America's independence. Check out the history and culture of Pennsylvania, where many German-speaking immigrants settled, with Christopher Hoh. Transcript: Hello, my name is Christopher Hoh. I work in the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, and I was born and brought up in the "the Keystone State." Pennsylvania was one of the original 13 colonies. It was called the Keystone State in the 18th century because of its central location and role in U.S. history. The first capital of the United States was in Philadelphia. Before it was colonized, the area was home to Native American tribes, including the Lenape and the Susquehannok. The name Pennsylvania means, "Penn's Woods." In 1681, England's King Charles II gave the land to William Penn as payment for a debt of 16,000 p...

http://www.mcall.com/news/nationworld/pennsylvania/mc-pa-defendants-can-sue-counties-over-defense-20160929-story.html PA high court expands right to sue counties over public defenders. HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania's highest court will allow criminal defendants to sue a county in an effort to prove a public defender's office isn't adequately funded to provide the constitutional right to an attorney, a victory for civil rights lawyers. The state Supreme Court's ruling late Wednesday overturned a lower appellate court decision. Mary Catherine Roper, the deputy legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, said Thursday that, while the ruling is a victory, it is not a final victory for the defendants named in the lawsuit against Luzerne County in northeastern Pennsyl...

In Ohio, I-80 enters with I-90 from the Indiana Toll Road and immediately becomes the "James W. Shocknessy Ohio Turnpike", more commonly referred to as simply the Ohio Turnpike. The two Interstates cross rural northwest Ohio and run just south of the metropolitan area of Toledo. In Rossford, Ohio the turnpike intersects with I-75 in an area known as the Crossroads of America. This intersection is one of the largest intersections of three Interstate Highways in the United States. In Elyria Township, just west of Cleveland, I-90 splits from I-80 (leaving the turnpike and running northeast as a freeway). I-80 runs east-southeast through the southern suburbs of Cleveland and retains the Ohio Turnpike designation. Just northwest of Youngstown, the Ohio Turnpike continues southeast onto I-76, w...
