This list of sports films is a compilation of films in the genre covering sports activities. Sports movies have been made since the era of silent films, such as the 1915 film The Champion starring Charlie Chaplin. Films in this genre can range from serious (Raging Bull) to silly (Horse Feathers). A classic theme for sports films is the triumph of an individual or team who prevail despite the difficulties. Men often identify with sports films in ways they wouldn't with other genres, such as spy films.

NB: This list excludes films that feature illegally run street races unless legitimate races are integral to the storyline.

Note: Films should not be listed here unless the sporting aspects of martial arts play a major part in the plot.

This list is intended to include films that explore multiple sports, but not in the context of multisport games such as the Olympics and Paralympics. Films on those subjects have their own list.

Olympic, Paralympics and other similar events are included, does not include films devoted to specific off-field incidents, for example the Munich massacre.
