Texas heavy metal group The Sword brought their thunderous riffs and catchy grooves to JBTV Studios for an epic live performance. The band formed in 2003 in Austin after frontman and guitarist J.D. Cronise had been writing music on his own for a few years and met up with guitarist Kyle Shutt and drummer Trivett Wingo. As a trio they played their first gig and independently released a demo called Age Of Winters which would later be the title of their debut album. The band later added bassist Bryan Richie when he was found out to share a common interest in Led Zeppelin with the other band members. After playing an impressive performance of music akin to Black Sabbath at South By Southwest, they were signed to Kemado Records in 2005. In 2006 they released their Debut Album that shared the same title as their demo, Age Of Winters and whether people knew it or not, songs from the album were making appearances on multi-media everywhere including their songs such as "Freya" being used in Guitar Hero II and "Barael's Blade" being used in American Dad. The band replaced Wingo with Jimmy Vela but that didn't slow down the band from releasing 3 more albums, most recently being Apocryphon [Razor and Tie] in 2012 which peaked at 17 on the Top 200 Billboard Chart and was met with positive reviews.
