Duo held for bank vandalism

KATHMANDU: Police on Saturday nabbed two persons for their alleged involvement in vandalism at a Rastriya Banijya Bank branch.

Rupesh Shrestha (22), a permanent resident of Rampur-4, Ramechhap and Tej Bahadur Shrestha (22), a permanent resident of Rakathum-8, Ramechhap, were arrested by a police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division from Baneshwor of Kathmandu.

They are accused of vandalising and trying to steal valuables from the branch office of Rastriya Banijya Bank in the Tribhuvan International Airport premises on Thursday.

The duo had entered the bank from the ventilation opening above the ATM booth with an iron rod.

Police said they have also confiscated the rod and a mobile phone from the suspects.

The duo have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further action.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a 29-year-old man for trying to take away as many as six iPhones evading tax from the Airport on Friday.

He has been identified as Ram Binay Kumar Yadav, a permanent resident of Basanpur-8, Sarlahi district.

He has been taken to Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further action.

Police said they looking into both the cases.
