Top secret Iran hostage rescue mission aircraft
YMC-130H were three modified Lockheed Hercules Aircraft for Top Secret "Operation Credible Sport", for second Iran hostage crisis rescue attempt.
One of the measures considered for a second hostage rescue attempt in Iran was a project to develop a "Super STOL" aircraft, to be flown by Combat Talon crews, that would use a soccer stadium near the US Embassy as an improvised landing field. Called Credible Sport, the project acquired three C-130H transports from an airlift unit in late August 1980, one as a test bed and two for the mission, and modified them on an accelerated basis.
Designated as the XFC-130H, the aircraft were modified by the installation of 30 rockets in five sets: eight firing forward to stop the aircraft, eight downward to brake its descent rate, eight rearward for takeoff assist, four mounted on the wings to stabilize them during takeoff transition, and two at the rear of the tail to prevent it from striking the ground because of over-rotation. Other STOL features included a dorsal and two ventral fins on the rear fuselage, double-slotted flaps and extended ailerons, a new radome, a tailhook for landing aboard an aircraft carrier, and Combat Talon avionics, including a TF/TA radar, a defensive countermeasures suite, and a Doppler radar/GPS tie-in to the aircraft's inertial navigation system.
Of the three aircraft, only one received full modification. The program abruptly ended when it crashed during testing on October 29, 1980, and international events soon after rendered another rescue attempt moot.

The Lockheed AC-130 (in this video during training exercice) is an heavily armed aircraft ground-attack aircraft derived from the C-130 Hercules transport plane . The basic airframe is built by Lockheed , and Boeing is responsible for the conversion into gunboat and aircraft support. The AC-130A Gunship II superseded the AC-47 Gunship I in Vietnam War .
The Lockheed AC-130 is used only by the United States Air Force , currently using the AC-130H Spectre and AC-130U Spooky II only versions. The AC-130 is powered by four turboprops and has an armament ranging from rotary automatic guns of 20 mm, until the shells of 105 mm. Its standard crew is normally composed of twelve or thirteen airmen, including five officers (two pilots, a navigator, an official of electronic warfare and fire control officer) and enlisted personnel (five engineers, electronics operators and aerial gunners).
The air forces of the United States used the AC-130 gunship for air support, air interdiction and protection. The role of air support includes support to ground troops, escorting convoys, and flying urban operations. Air interdiction missions were carried out against designated targets and targets of opportunity. Protection missions, including defending air bases and other facilities. Stationed at Hurlburt Field northwest of Florida , the squadron of gunboats, are part of the Special Operations Command Air Force (AFSOC) and components of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM).
The C-130 Hercules was selected as a base plane of the new draft gunboat, to replace the AC-47 Gunship I known as "Spooky" or "Puff the Magic Dragon" (the title track of the folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary ) during the Vietnam War , to improve resistance as gunboat and increase the transport capacity of weapons.
In 1967, the aircraft JC-130A USAF 54-1626 was chosen to become the AC-130A prototype. Modifications were made that year at the base of Wright-Patterson Air Force for aeronautical systems division. A direct night vision telescope was installed in the front door, near the viewfinder infrared . The prototype computer analog fire control was handmade by the commander of the RAF Tom Pinkerton, avionics laboratory of USAF . Flight tests of the prototype were performed on the basis of Eglin, followed by further testing and modifications. In September 1967, the aircraft was certified and ready for combat testing and carried airbase Nha Trang in South Vietnam for a test program for 90 days. As a result of the successes, some few AC-130A were constructed using similar equipment and analog computers . The original 54-1626 Gunship is exposed at the Museum of the USAF.
The AC-130 was the replacement for the AC-119 Gunship Shadow III during the Vietnam War , who later showed his little power and payload in wartime. In 1970, an additional dozen AC-130As were acquired under the "Pave Soon" project. Despite the name of the project, the aircraft was commonly called by the squad as a Spectre.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built originally by Lockheed, now Lockheed Martin. Capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation, and cargo transport aircraft. The versatile airframe has found uses in a variety of other roles, including as a gunship (AC-130), for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refueling, maritime patrol and aerial firefighting. It is now the main tactical airlifter for many military forces worldwide. Over 40 models and variants of the Hercules serve with more than 60 nations.
The C-130 entered service with U.S. in the 1950s, followed by Australia and others. During its years of service, the Hercules family has participated in countless military, civilian and humanitarian aid operations. The family has the longest continuous production run of any military aircraft in history. In 2007, the C-130 became the fifth aircraft—after the English Electric Canberra, Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, Tupolev Tu-95, and Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker—to mark 50 years of continuous use with its original primary customer, in this case, the United States Air Force. The C-130 is also the only military aircraft to remain in continuous production for 50 years with its original customer, as the updated C-130J Super Hercules.

The Lockheed AC-130 (in this video during training exercice) is an heavily armed aircraft ground-attack aircraft derived from the C-130 Hercules transport plane . The basic airframe is built by Lockheed , and Boeing is responsible for the conversion into gunboat and aircraft support. The AC-130A Gunship II superseded the AC-47 Gunship I in Vietnam War . Called Credible Sport, the project acquired three C-130H transports from an airlift unit in late August 1980, one as a test bed and two for the mission, and modified them on an accelerated basis.
Designated as the XFC-130H, the aircraft were modified by the installation of 30 rockets in five sets: eight firing forward to stop the aircraft, eight downward to brake its descent rate, eight rearward for takeoff assist, four mounted on the wings to stabilize them during takeoff transition, and two at the rear of the tail to prevent it from striking the ground because of over-rotation. Other STOL features included a dorsal and two ventral fins on the rear fuselage, double-slotted flaps and extended ailerons, a new radome, a tailhook for landing aboard an aircraft carrier, and Combat Talon avionics, including a TF/TA radar, a defensive countermeasures suite, and a Doppler radar/GPS tie-in to the aircraft's inertial navigation system.
Of the three aircraft, only one received full modification. The program abruptly ended when it crashed during testing on October 29, 1980, and international events soon after rendered another rescue attempt moot.

Top secret Iran hostage rescue mission aircraft
YMC-130H were three modified Lockheed Hercules Aircraft for Top Secret "Operation Credible Sport", for second Iran hostage crisis rescue attempt.
One of the measures considered for a second hostage rescue attempt in Iran was a project to develop a "Super STOL" aircraft, to be flown by Combat Talon crews, that would use a soccer stadium near the US Embassy as an improvised landing field. Called Credible Sport, the project acquired three C-130H transports from an airlift unit in late August 1980, one as a test bed and two for the mission, and modified them on an accelerated basis.

A direct night vision telescope was installed in the front door, near the viewfinder infrared . The prototype computer analog fire control was handmade by the commander of the RAF Tom Pinkerton, avionics laboratory of USAF . Flight tests of the prototype were performed on the basis of Eglin, followed by further testing and modifications. In September 1967, the aircraft was certified and ready for combat testing and carried airbase Nha Trang in South Vietnam for a test program for 90 days. As a result of the successes, some few AC-130A were constructed using similar equipment and analog computers . The original 54-1626 Gunship is exposed at the Museum of the USAF.
The AC-130 was the replacement for the AC-119 Gunship Shadow III during the Vietnam War , who later showed his little power and payload in wartime. 2016 Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Open House & Air Show. "Power In The Pines". The parachute jump by the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion Airborne of the Army Reserve based at Fort Dix. The aircraft utilized was a C-130H Hercules of the 166th Airlift Wing & Delaware Air National Guard. Note: Sorry about the bad sound quality as you may have noticed, it was a very windy day with wind gusting on average at nearly 25 mph throughout the day and ruining the sounds altogether. Thankfully there were no injuries reported during this jump run. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (McGuire Air Force Base). Wrightstown, NJ. Saturday May 14th, 2016. -

2016 Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Open House & Air Show. "Power In The Pines".
The parachute jump by the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion Airborne of the Army Reserve based at Fort Dix. The aircraft utilized was a C-130H Hercules of the 166th Airlift Wing & Delaware Air National Guard.
Note: Sorry about the bad sound quality as you may have noticed, it was a very windy day with wind gusting on average at nearly 25 mph throughout the day and ruining the sounds altogether. Thankfully there were no injuries reported during this jump run.

I have a C-130 cart bag but wanted to have the feature' again which is very handy at the range (on windy days) and around the putting area where the needs to laid down or falls over in the I like the dividers and and the pockets better on the Titleist 14 note the latter does have FULL length i wish this had another zipper on top of the garment (like the titleist) all in all this is great. I have had blue and black bagstried the Red/White and and love too showy and looks sharp.

New air bases opened at Da Nang AB and Cam Ranh AB in January 1966, and later at Pleiku AB, Bien Hoa AB, and Phu Cat AB, reducing the need for redistribution.
Major unit movements by MAC aircraft from the United States usually required further airlifts to operating areas by in-country transports. Introduction of the C-5 Galaxy transport in the summer of 1970 created new problems of in-country distribution, since C-5 deliveries were massive, and, initially the planes could land only at Cam Ranh Bay. The upgraded AC-130U "Spooky" has a single 25 mm GAU-12 Equalizer in place of the Spectre's twin 20 mm cannons, an improved fire control system, and increased ammunition capacity. New AC-130J gunships based on MC-130J Combat Shadow II special operations tankers were planned as of 2012. The AC-130W is armed with one 30 mm Bushmaster cannon, AGM-176 Griffin missiles, and GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs.
