Lou Scheimer Gallery At ToonSeum The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh's museum of comic and cartoon art, is honoring animation legend and Pittsburgh native Lou Scheimer. The ToonSeum will officially christen its new, expanded gallery as the Lou Scheimer Gallery during a dedication ceremony at 2:30 pm Saturday, Nov. 12. The Lou Scheimer Gallery will include a section dedicated to Mr. Scheimer and his work as the co-founder of the popular Filmation Studios. Scheimer was born and raised in Pittsburgh before heading off to Hollywood to begin his career in animation. After a stint working for several studios, he began his own production company, Filmation. Filmation produced many popular animated and live actions shows, including The Archies, Fat Albert, Superman, He-Man, She-Ra, Tarzan, Isis, Shazam and many more. Filmation Studios was notable for Scheimer's commitment to producing animation in the United States and not exporting the work overseas as many other studios had done. Another notable aspect of Filmation was its emphasis on storytelling with a strong moral message or value. Ever diligent in keeping production costs down, Scheimer often would provide additional talents such as voicing characters. "When we began expansion plans for the ToonSeum, we wanted to name our new gallery after a prominent Pittsburgh native. Lou's contributions to cartooning and pop culture made him the obvious choice for this great honor," said ToonSeum Executive Director Joe Wos. "Lou and Filmation had a ...

Dick Digit -Rare Filmation Pilot 60's
This rare Filmation cartoon is presumed to be a pilot and was included on a video released by UK Video Gems that also contained an episode of Blackstar and another pilot from 1974 called "King Arthur". It looks like it was produced sometime around 1967 or 1968. Very trippy.

The Brown Hornet "The Disgusting Professor Scribbler"
The Brown Hornet was a show-within-a-show (or more accurately, a cartoon-within-a-cartoon) on the Filmation animated series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids from 1979 to approximately 1984. The Brown Hornet was a show that Fat Albert's gang watched on a barely-working television in their clubhouse. The Brown Hornet was a bumbling superhero who always seemed to thwart the evil-doers and teach viewers a valuable lesson in the process. In each opening, The Brown Hornet and his sidekicks Stinger and Tweeterbell the Robot were facing certain doom until the Brown Hornet used his superpowers to save them all. But at the end, the group faced a new threat. The Brown Hornet's name is a play on the name of the live-action hero The Green Hornet. But in character, the Brown Hornet is closer to a parody of Space Ghost - a space-faring, caped superhero. Voice cast: The Brown Hornet - Bill Cosby Stinger - Lou Scheimer Tweeterbell - Erika Scheimer Announcer - Norm Prescott/Lou Scheimer The Brown Hornet Designer - James A Simon From the episode "Handwriting on the Wall".

Blackstar Opening Theme
Blackstar Opening Theme
Blackstar is an American animated television series, a science fantasy story sometimes reported as being inspired by Thundarr the Barbarian. It was produced in 1981 by Lou Scheimer and Norm Prescott for Filmation. The series was Filmation's second fantasy epic, the first being tucked in as a segment of Tarzan and Tarzan and the Super 7, The Freedom Force. Blackstar has many notable similarities to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which was produced shortly afterwards. ohn Blackstar was an astronaut from a future version of Earth who had been swept through a black hole and stranded on the planet Sagar, where magic and sword and sorcery still ruled the day. Together with his allies, the Trobbits, Klone (a shape-shifting elfin companion), the dragon Warlock, and Mara the Enchantress, Blackstar battled the cruel Overlord, a ruthless Ming-like oppressor, who ruled by the might of the Powersword, one half of the Powerstar, an immensely powerful weapon. Fortunately, Blackstar possessed its other half, the Starsword, which kept the Overlord and his dark minions in check.

Viagem Fantástica - Abertura do Desenho
Fantastic Voyage is an American animated science fiction TV series based on the famous 1966 film directed by Richard Fleischer. The series consists of 17 episodes each running 30 minutes. It was run on ABC-TV from September 14, 1968 through September 5, 1970. The series was produced by Filmation Associates in association with Twentieth Century Fox, and was the story of the CMDF (Combined Miniature Defense Force), a secret United States government organization which possessed the ability to reduce people to microscopic size. The main characters were Commander Jonathan Kidd; biologist Erica Lane; scientist Busby Birdwell; and a master of mysterious powers known as Guru. The team was reduced in size -- for 12 hours only -- and traveled around in a microscopic flying submarine, the Voyager, doing battle against the unseen, unsuspecting enemies of the free world (both criminal and germinal matter). The series featured the voices of Marvin Miller, Jane Webb, and Ted Knight. The producers were Lou Scheimer and Norm Prescott, the director was Hal Sutherland, and the music was provided by Gordon Zahler. (Credits Wikipedia) en.wikipedia.org
