Plot: 16 year old Ryna is the daughter of a poor Romanian who runs a gas station in a small community in the Danube delta. Ryna has been brought up like a boy because her father had longed for a son. The film is about strong family ties, about a daughter's search for her mother, and about a despotic father slowly losing his grip. But, it is also about poverty, social suppression and the abuse of power by those who rule under the guise of a false freedom. Ryna shows the awakening of a young girl's soul and the pain that goes with it. Caught between traditional values and materialistic dreams, in the end Ryna pays a heavy price in order to preserve her identity.

Plot: David studies Natural Sciences at the University of Pisa and is about to pass his final exam. He plans to move to the United States to have further education there. But then he gets a flyer from a girl. It's Viola, who he met three years ago after a dinner with friends. He has thought about her ever since. Viola is a member of a beginning student anti-globalist group, called Mompracem after David's suggestion. They are preparing for a protest at the G8-summit in Genoa. While David tries to come closer to Viola, who is already in a relationship with group leader Luca, he gets more and more involved with Mompracem. So deep that the progress of his study might falter.

Plot: On the mountainous frontier between British India and Afghanistan, circa 1860s, Zarak Khan kisses Salma, the youngest wife of his father, Haji Khan. Outraged, his father orders Zarak to be flogged to death but spares his life at the urging of an elderly Mullah. Zarak now leaves his village and becomes a notorious outlaw, prompting the British to assign a Major Ingram to capture him. Zarak and Ingram have several encounters, developing a grudging respect for each other. When Ingram is captured by Ahmad, one of Zarak's rivals, Zarak risks his life to save the British officer.
