- organization of the house including food preparation and light cleaning

NOTE: House-related tasks are important elements of routine-based program, as it builds children’s self help skills and independence. We would complete such tasks in a child-lead manner and in a child’s pace as the focus is learning process and not completion of tasks in a timely manner.

I have worked short term as a babysitter before when I was 16 years old back in New Zealand of toddler and primary-school age children. I also have many younger cousins whom I have babysat and really love and enjoy working with children. I was lucky enough to work for some amazing families in Australia and build a strong relationship with them – We still keep in contact even though I have been living on the other side of the world! Working as a nanny is different to your every day job as you become very involved with your employer and hopefully they consider you family. One little boy, whom I nannied for in Australia, was diagnosed with autism after a few months of me being there. I nannied for him and his 3 siblings for 13 months in 2014. I was able to get to know him on a personal level and learnt how to be extra patient and appreciate his uniqueness and intelligence.
In Jan 2015, I moved to London as a nanny to see the world and continue doing the work I love and broaden my knowledge. There I worked full-time 8am - 7pm monday to friday caring for three little children, twins aged 18 months and a little 3 and a half year old girl. After 12 months of what I would call an incredible experience, I have returned to Australia to continue part time nanny work as I commence university in 2016.

I now study Bachelor of Social Science (Youth work) at RMIT, Melbourne and commute 3 days a week.
I also work as a casual respite support worker for gateways.
