Dadri

Dadri is a town city and a municipal board in Gautam Buddha Nagar District in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Dadri and surrounding areas of Dankaur, Sikandrabad was ruled by Gurjars of Bhati clan when Mughal power in Delhi started declining.

Geography

Dadri is located at 28°34′N 77°33′E / 28.57°N 77.55°E / 28.57; 77.55. It has an average elevation of 216 metres (709 ft).

Wetlands

Large swathes of Dadri have been classified as a wetland and is home to Blackbuck and Nilgai. It is also home to a significant population of migratory birds coming from as far as Siberia and Europe.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Dadri had a population of 57,457. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Dadri has an average literacy rate of 34%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 90% and, female literacy is 78%. In Dadri, 18% of the population is under 5 years of age.

Mid-air collision

A mid-air collision is an aviation accident in which two or more aircraft come into unplanned contact during flight. Owing to the relatively high velocities involved and the likelihood of subsequent impact with the ground or sea, very severe damage or the total destruction of at least one of the aircraft involved usually results.

The potential for a mid-air collision is increased by miscommunication, mistrust, error in navigation, deviations from flight plans, and the lack of collision-avoidance systems. Although a rare occurrence in general due to the vastness of open space available, collisions often happen near or at airports, where large volumes of aircraft are spaced more closely than in general flight.

First recorded mid air collision

The first recorded collision between aircraft occurred at the "Milano Circuito Aereo Internazionale" meeting held between 24 September and 3 October 1910 in Milan, Italy. On 3 October, Frenchman René Thomas, flying an Antoinette IV monoplane, collided with British Army Captain Bertram Dickson by ramming his Farman III biplane in the rear. Both pilots survived, but Dickson was so badly injured that he never flew again.

Charkhi Dadri

Charkhi Dadri is a town and a municipal committee in Bhiwani district in the state of Haryana, India. The town was made by joining the villages of Charkhi and Dadri after urban development.

Charkhi Dadri tehsil

Charkhi Dadri is a tehsil with 184 villages and is the largest tehsil in Haryana. It is located in southern Haryana 110 kilometres (68 mi) from the national capital of New Delhi. Folklore claims that the name "Dadri" is derived from a lake called Dadar. According to another anecdote, the place had a lake which was full of dadur (Sanskrit: frog) from which it took its current name. It is said that one day Dada Bilhan Singh, a descendant of Prithviraj Chauhan, came to this area and saw a cow and lion drinking water side by side. Intrigued by the sight, he went to a nearby cottage where a Mahatma named Swami Dayal lived. Bilhan Singh asked for the Mahatma's blessings and advice and was told that if he made the place his home, his family would be blessed and would rule over it in the future. In the past, Dadri was also a district or pargana and a state or riyasat.
