EN - ESA Astronaut Tim Peake ISS mission Principia pre-launch coverage - Interview with Tim Peake and final exams at Star City/Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC) for prime and back-up crew-members November 19-20 - 20.11.2015 - Star City, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
BEGINNING of the transcript of the interview - Tim Peake, answering questions: "Absolutely, we've trained a long time for this, so we're very ready for the mission, I'm looking forward for this final exam. (...)
I'm just really excited about the next couple of weeks and the build-up to the launch (...)
I think, there are 2 things that are really hard about the training: firstly, it's a long period, about two and a half years, and you have to retain a lot of information over that period, sometimes, you only get one less. (...): so, knowing what to retain, and how to retain the information is quite hard.
And secondly, of course, everything we do here is in Russian, (smiling) so, learning the Russian language has been a struggle as well (...)" Watch the rest ! :)
"British ESA astronaut Tim Peake will be launched to the International Space Station ISS, from Baikonur in Kazakhstan on board a Russian Soyuz vehicle on 15th December at 17h03 Baikonur (11h03 GMT).
He is the first Briton to be selected as a member of ESA’s European Astronaut Corps. With a background in flight dynamics, he serves in the British Airforce as flight commander, helicopter instructor and test pilot. He also has close ties with the UK Space Agency, working on the development of its microgravity research programme.
Named after Isaac Newton’s text Naturalis Principia Mathematica, Tim’s “Principia” mission will be the eighth ESA long-duration mission to the International Space Station. He will spend five months on orbit carrying out an intensive schedule of european and international experiments, in addition to numerous educational activities." (ESA)
During the period between now and launch you will find on this channel highlights of Principia Mission key events with Tim Peake.
This video is about final exams at Star City/GCTC for prime and back-up crew-members Nov 19-20 and a short interview on the spot with Tim Peake.

Major Tim Peake Prepares For His First Spacewalk On The Space Station
British astronaut Tim Peake will step outside the International Space Station for the first time in order to carry out some essential repair work. Peake will travel over 60 metres along the outside of the space station to one of the outer reaches of the facility. Sky's Thomas Moore reports
Major Peake is set to become the first Briton to walk in space on a six-and-a-half-hour mission to repair a broken power unit.
im Peake will become the first Briton to walk in space later when he ventures outside the International Space Station (ISS) to help fix a broken power unit.
The spacewalk - referred to as an Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) - will last almost six-and-a-half hours and is scheduled to begin at 12.55pm UK time.
Major Peake will carry out the mission with NASA colleague Colonel Tim Kopra, who will be taking part in his third spacewalk.
The pair will work in 45-minute blocks of daylight, then complete darkness, as the ISS orbits Earth every 90 minutes.
They have been getting ready for weeks, but also practised for months on Earth.
