How to paint a Colorado River - with oil or acrylic paint by Master Artist Bill Inman. I start with abstract color shapes and patterns to quickly create realistic aspen and pine trees, river rocks, water and a sunny sky with clouds. Learn how to use brush techniques and strong values and colors that result in a natural and believable mountain river painting. This oil painting - Finding Gold in Estes Park - was completed in my studio and sold through the Broadmoor Galleries. My wife Kristie and I saw this beautiful river while in Estes Park for an Oil Painters of America Show I was accepted into. We got there nice and early so we could hike around and enjoy many of the incredible trails throughout the area. We lived in the mountains of Colorado for more than 12 years and still visit often to do some plein air alla prima painting. This is not the formula painting system created by Bob Ross that artists around the world love.
