Nothing says "thanks for everything, dad" like ignoring him on Father's Day and buying this cool stuff for yourself...
Google’s cheap, high-speed Fiber network is the internet we all need, but very few actually get. A lot of that has to do with the cost of running fiber-optic under streets and to houses, which involves a lot of messy manual labor.
One solution Google is looking at, according to Alphabet chairperson Eric Schmidt, is millimeter-wave wireless signals to cover the “last mile” to customers’ houses.
HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm has been in a weird sort of purgatory for years now. Though the show never officially ended — nor was it cancelled — the last time we saw a new episode from Larry David and co. was back in 2011. Since then, David has been rather coy about whether or not the show has a future. And of course, with each passing year, many fans of the show began to begrudgingly accept the fact that the show would probably never return to air.
Not to worry Curb fans, we have some pretty good news to share. In fact, you might even say its pretty, pretty, pretty good news.
Those tiny little Bluetooth speakers that are so popular right now are very cool. They’re great for listening to much while you work or while you’re cooking in the kitchen, and they can even provide decent background music while you’re entertaining. If you want your music to be the life of the party though, some tiny little wireless speaker just isn’t going to cut it.
That’s where the Sony GTKXB7BC High Power Home Audio System with Bluetooth comes in, and it’s on sale right now on Amazon for this week only. More →
Even Tesla detractors would have to concede that the company isn’t afraid to be painfully honest about its mistakes, no matter how bad the resulting PR might be. Whether it’s Elon Musk admitting that the Model X design was too ambitious or the company issuing a voluntary recall for the Model S this past November, Tesla has always been upfront and honest about its missteps.
That said, a strange story about Tesla began to gain traction in the mainstream press late this week. According to a report from Reuters, the U.S. National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently began probing reports about worrisome suspension issues on the Tesla Model S that could result in drivers losing control while driving. What’s more, the report claims that Tesla may have gone so far as to force a Tesla owner with suspension problems to sign an NDA in exchange for repairs. In other words, Tesla was allegedly willing to fix the problem so long as the owner agreed not to contact the government of the NHTSA about it.

In addition to demoing products that will soon hit stores like the Lenovo PHAB2 series and the Motorola Moto Z family, Lenovo briefly covered a few concept products during its Tech World keynote event this week. The company even showcased a couple of very cool prototypes, including a foldable smartphone that can be turned into a wearable device, and a bendable tablet that becomes a phablet.
It’s time to meet the C+ and the Folio.
Barack Obama may be the most powerful man in the world, but his smartphone game is in need of repair. In fact, the smartphone you currently have in your pocket is probably more advanced than the one he’s using. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday, Obama said that while he has a smartphone of sorts, its functionality is extremely limited due to security concerns.
So while we’re all busy tweeting, texting, taking photos and more, Obama remains stuck on the sidelines. In an amusing anecdote, Obama recalled the conversation that accompanied him receiving his new phone, with his handlers saying “this is a great phone, state of the art, but it doesn’t take pictures, you can’t text, the phone doesn’t work, and you can’t play your music on it.”
I have to be perfectly honest with you… I’ve never played a video game on a PC in my life. OK, that’s not entirely true — I used to play a few old school games in elementary school like Oregon Trail. But when it comes to the new-generation of console-quality games, I’ve never tried one before.
And I’m still going to buy the Razer BlackWidow Chroma Clicky Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, with is easily the most insane keyboard I’ve ever seen in my life. Right now until the end of the day on Saturday, June 11th, it’s on sale for just $140 shipped to your door. More →
When the iPhone first launched, Intel had a stranglehold over processors for consumer electronics. A decade later, and the giant has managed to completely screw up the mobile revolution. Every major smartphone is running an ARM processor, and Intel’s nowhere to be seen.
The company has taken the tiniest step in reversing that change, with Bloomberg reporting that Intel will make modems for Apple’s next iPhone. That places it among other such titans of industry as MediaTek and TSMC.
If there’s one thing that Marvel had to get right when it started building a cinematic universe, it’s was the casting. On that front, the studio has repeatedly succeeded.
From the inspired choice of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man all the way up to Tom Holland stepping in for Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Marvel has rarely, if ever, made a misstep when casting its iconic characters.
But what if the MCU kicked off 20 years earlier?

You may be right to be annoyed that your regular headphones won’t work with new devices, including the Moto Z family, that don’t have a regular 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple has already received plenty of criticism after rumors suggested the iPhone 7 will also lack a standard audio port. But wireless tech is about to get a lot better, making wireless accessories, including headphones, a lot more interesting.
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group is going to announce a new standard next week, a significant upgrade over the current Bluetooth 4.x tech. More →
