Bristol (i/ˈbrɪstəl/) is a city, unitary authority and county in South West England with an estimated population of 442,500 in 2015. It is England's sixth and the United Kingdom's eighth most populous city, and the most populous city in Southern England after London. People from Bristol are known as Bristolians. The city borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire, with the historic cities of Bath and Gloucester to the south-east and north-east, respectively.
Iron Age hill forts and Roman villas were built near the confluence of the Rivers Frome and Avon, and around the beginning of the 11th century the settlement was known as Brycgstow (Old English "the place at the bridge"). Bristol received a royal charter in 1155 and was in Gloucestershire until 1373, when it became a county. From the 13th to the 18th century, Bristol was among the top three English cities after London (with York and Norwich) in tax receipts. Bristol was eclipsed by the rapid rise of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution.
Sarah Margaret 'Molly' Scott Cato (born 21 May 1963) is a British green politician, academic, environmental and community activist, and green economist who is the current Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the South West England electoral region for the Green Party. She was elected in May 2014, and is the first Green Party MEP to represent the region. From 2012 until her election as MEP, she was Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at the University of Roehampton. Scott Cato speaks for the Green Party on finance issues, and is well known in the field of co-operative studies. She has published widely on green economics, localism and anti-capitalism, and has contributed to works on the risks of nuclear power, the use of which she strongly opposes.
Scott Cato was born in Wales, and grew up in Bath, attending Bath High School for Girls, before reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford, where her stated areas of interest included "the politics of Latin America and international politics". After working in the publishing industry, in 2001 she earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth (now Aberystwyth University) with a thesis on employment policy in the South Wales Valleys, including research into the Tower Colliery workers' co-operative. Her book, The Pit and the Pendulum, is based on this research. She holds an MSc in advanced social research methods from the Open University.
Molly Scott may refer to:
West is a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography. West is one of the four cardinal directions or compass points. It is the opposite of east and is perpendicular to north and south.
The word "West" is a Germanic word passed into some Romance languages (ouest in French, oest in Catalan, ovest in Italian, oeste in Spanish and Portuguese). As is apparent in the Gothic term vasi (Visigoths), it stems from the same Indo-European root that gave the Sanskrit vas-ati (night) and vesper (evening) in Latin.
To go west using a compass for navigation, one needs to set a bearing or azimuth of 270°.
West is the direction opposite that of the Earth's rotation on its axis, and is therefore the general direction towards which the Sun appears to constantly progress and eventually set.
Moving continuously west is following a circle of latitude.
The phrase "the West" is often spoken in reference to the Western world, which includes Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, and the United States of America.
General Election 2017: The Bristol Cable invited the candidates running for Bristol West MP to a uniquely styled debate. Without a moderator, the three candidates were invited to 'self-chair' in this fiery yet respectful political debate. Each candidate was given the opportunity to ask their political rivals a question. Candidates were asked to focus on policy, substance, and the key issues as they see them, facing Bristol West and the UK at large. Many thanks to work experience students Robyn Fogg and Joe Edwards from Bridge Learning Campus, who assisted with sound and filming. Note: Conservative candidate, Annabel Tall, declined to participate.

Boundary changes in Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Devizes, Salisbury, Chippenham & Bristol Constituencies. The Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill is meant to pave the way for a referendum on 5 May about changing the way MPs are elected. But its passage has been held up by objections from peers - mainly Labour ones - to plans contained in it to redraw the electoral map of Britain. MPs will be cut from 650 to 600 and the electorate in almost all seats will have to be within 5% of 76,000 voters. But research by Democratic Audit for BBC Two's Newsnight suggests it is the Liberal Democrats who would have lost out most if the proposed changes had been implemented at the last election. The party would have lost 12% of seats - seven of 57. Labour would have lost 10% - 25 of 25...

Labour party candidate Thangam Debbonaire said she would not be attending these hustings due to 'a preexisting diary commitment'. Which may be code for her having been instructed not to attend by the Labour party South West regional office because she was one of the MP's labelled 'Blairite' for joining the plot to unseat Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in the summer of 2016 against the wishes of the Labour party membership. Built in 1953, OTT43 was new to Western National and was allocated to the Royal Blue service. Its ECW coachwork features a stair at the rear, which leads to the luggage storage space on the roof. It was fitted with Gardner 6HLW horizontal engine and a 5 speed non-synchromesh gearbox, so double declutching is necessary during gear shifts, as obviously no one wants to risk damaging the gearbox with float shifting! Thanks for watching!

This footage is of the 1995 national Clive Lloyd 50 overs cricket match final, between Bristol West Indians and Luton Combined, managed by Ossie Lewis. Bristol had won this completion several times and were favourites to win it again. Their main strength were their pace attack. Luton were a feared team by most opponents, but Bristol chose to disregard Luton's potential. This is Bristol's innings. Eli Abraham an Alford Jackson opened the bowling for Luton.
