How water methanol injection works. Water methanol injection is used typically on high powered vehicles to assist with reducing the likelihood of knock, and thus allowing for higher compression ratios, more timing advance, and higher boost. Typically mixes are 50/50, with both water and methanol playing important but different roles to help aid in producing more power. Ultimately, the power comes from tuning as running water/meth essentially raises the octane level of the fuel used. There are production cars which have used this in the past.

Finding pure methanol in you local area can be difficult but not impossible. If you live near any race tracks, drag strips, even go kart tracks, check them out because they usually sell methanol or know a local company that does. If no local race tracks then call local performance speed shops. If still no luck call hobby shops that sell remote controlled gas powered airplanes or cars. If still no luck with any of these ideas, sorry I'm out of suggestions.
1 gallon = 128 fl oz = 3.78 liter
1 quart = 32 fl oz = 0.94 liter
Prices are without sales tax.
Last time I bought SLX Denatured Alcohol (one gallon): $15.29 / 128 fl oz = 12 cents per fl oz
Last time I bought Heet (12 fl oz=355ml): $1.79 / 12 fl oz = 15 cents per fl oz
Last time I bought methanol (one gallon): $4.00 / 128 fl oz = 3 cents per fl oz

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, wood naphtha or wood spirits, is a chemical with the formula CH3OH (often abbreviated MeOH). It is the simplest alcohol, and is a light, volatile, colorless, flammable liquid with a distinctive odor very similar to, but slightly sweeter than, ethanol (drinking alcohol). At room temperature, it is a polar liquid, and is used as an antifreeze, solvent, fuel, and as a denaturant for ethanol. It is also used for producing biodiesel via transesterification reaction.
Methanol is produced naturally in the anaerobic metabolism of many varieties of bacteria, and is ubiquitous in the environment. As a result, there is a small fraction of methanol vapor in the atmosphere. Over the course of several days, atmospheric methanol is oxidized with the help of sunlight to carbon dioxide and water.
Methanol burns in air, forming carbon dioxide and water:
Because of its toxic properties, methanol is frequently used as a denaturant additive for ethanol manufactured for industrial uses — this addition of methanol exempts industrial ethanol from liquor excise taxation. Methanol is often called wood alcohol because it was once produced chiefly as a byproduct of the destructive distillation of wood.

How water methanol injection works. Water methanol injection is used typically on high powered vehicles to assist with reducing the likelihood of knock, and thus allowing for higher compression ratios, more timing advance, and higher boost. Typically mixes are 50/50, with both water and methanol playing important but different roles to help aid in producing more power. Ultimately, the power comes from tuning as running water/meth essentially raises the octane level of the fuel used. There are production cars which have used this in the past.

How water methanol injection works. Water methanol injection is used typically on high powered vehicles to assist with reducing the likelihood of knock, and thus allowing for higher compression ratios, more timing advance, and higher boost. Typically mixes are 50/50, with both water and methanol playing important but different roles to help aid in producing more power. Finding pure methanol in you local area can be difficult but not impossible. If you live near any race tracks, drag strips, even go kart tracks, check them out because they usually sell methanol or know a local company that does. If no local race tracks then call local performance speed shops. If still no luck call hobby shops that sell remote controlled gas powered airplanes or cars. If still no luck with any of these ideas, sorry I'm out of suggestions.
1 gallon = 128 fl oz = 3.78 liter
1 quart = 32 fl oz = 0.94 liter
Prices are without sales tax.
Last time I bought SLX Denatured Alcohol (one gallon): $15.29 / 128 fl oz = 12 cents per fl oz
Last time I bought Heet (12 fl oz=355ml): $1.79 / 12 fl oz = 15 cents per fl oz
Last time I bought methanol (one gallon): $4.00 / 128 fl oz = 3 cents per fl oz
