Rob Townsend (born 7 July 1947) is a British rock and blues drummer. He was influenced by jazz greats such as Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa and is best known for being the drummer for progressive rock band Family and later The Blues Band.
Townsend was born in Leicester, England, where he spent his teenage years playing in various bands, such as the Beatniks, Broodly Hoo and Legay. He became drummer for Family, replacing Harry Overnall in 1967. Family broke up in 1973 and Townsend joined Medicine Head,. After eighteen months he left Medicine Head and spent much of the late 1970s as freelance session drummer for Peter Skellern,George Melly and Bill Wyman amongst others. During this time he played drums for Kevin Ayers and Charlie Whitney's Axis Point.
In 1979 Townsend joined The Blues Band, in a line up including Paul Jones, guitarists Dave Kelly and Tom McGuinness also bassist Gary Fletcher. He has also appeared with Jones and McGuinness in the Manfred Mann splinter band The Manfreds.
Soul Central are a British music production duo consisting of Andy Ward and Paul Timothy, who had a number 6 hit with "String Of Life (Stronger On My Own)" on the UK Singles Chart, released on Defected Records and it also reached number 1 on the UK Dance Chart. The track featured vocals from house veteran, Kathy Brown. The Danny Krivitt re-edit also appeared on the Ministry of Sound compilation album, The Annual 2005.
The follow-up single "Need You Now" was an instrumental, and failed to match the success of the previous single, peaking at 109 in the UK.
In May 2006, Soul Central released "In-Ten-City", a single promoted by Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show. The track was released by the record company Soul Heaven/Defected and featured Billie in the vocals. The song's title appeared to pay tribute to the Chicago, Illinois-based R&B and house-music act "Ten City" (derived from intensity), that enjoyed a number of club hits and urban radio hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Royal Albert may refer to several places named in memory of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha:
Other uses:
Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall on the northern edge of South Kensington, London, best known for holding the Proms concerts annually each summer since 1941. It has a capacity (depending on configuration of the event) of up to 5,272 seats. The Hall is a registered charity held in trust for the nation and receives no public or government funding.
Since its opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world's leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage and it has become one of the UK's most treasured and distinctive buildings. Each year it hosts more than 390 shows in the main auditorium, including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, film screenings with live orchestra, sports, award ceremonies, school and community events, charity performances and banquets. A further 400 events are held each year in the non-auditorium spaces.
The Hall was originally supposed to have been called the Central Hall of Arts and Sciences, but the name was changed to the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences by Queen Victoria upon laying the Hall's foundation stone in 1867, in memory of her late husband consort, Prince Albert who had died six years earlier. It forms the practical part of a national memorial to the Prince Consort – the decorative part is the Albert Memorial directly to the north in Kensington Gardens, now separated from the Hall by the road Kensington Gore.

When you think of Black Directors, who comes to mind...Tyler Perry, Spike Lee? In the small community of "black filmmakers", it's easy to go unnoticed in the vastly caucasian world of Hollywood. So it's important that as African American's we celebrate our own success and history by informing everyone about our creative past. Sidney Portier, Robert Townsend, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Mario Van Peebles were all honored at the African American Museum for their contributions in telling our stories within Hollywood.
