memória! / The Very Best of Yoko Shimomura - The Masked [Extended w/ DL Link]
Before we begin, I would like to thank the
Lord Jesus Christ for my life, and all the gifts which
I've been given in it, including the ability to make this extension. Your name be glorified, my
Savior, even in something as small as this.
Amen.

Vamos allá, viewer!
It's time for another highly memorable edition of
Amateur Extension Theater 2000, home to some of the finest extended music you've ever heard, or are ever likely to! I'm your flamenco-lovin' host, Alkahest.
'memória! /
The Very Best of Yoko Shimomura' is a compilation
album celebrating that supremely gifted composer, best known for her work in
Kingdom Hearts, but who has actually contributed amazing tracks to games ranging from
Super Mario RPG:
Legend of the Seven Stars, to LIVE-A-LIVE, to
Parasite Eve, to
... well, hey, you name it, and if it's a rockingly awesome tune, chances are good Yoko has composed it!
Here, we have 'The
Masked', and oh man is it incredible! A soft chorus-styled opening, followed by a lively acoustic guitar, which then blends with a stellar piano bit at 0:10, and goes on to add violins and steady percussions... it's an arrangement so soulful, so packed with passion and fiery latin fervor, I just can't find words enough to describe it. Well, maybe one word does it justice: "AWWWWESOME!"
Hmm? Where does this magnificent tune play, you ask? ... meh. Some generic cellphone game called "
Demon's
Score" or something.
I believe it's the only track Yoko Shimomura contributed, as well; from what I've read, the premise ain't all that memorable or unique (ooo, the player can summon and control demons; never seen -THAT- in a game before), either.
Whatever! It's the latest in a long line of sublime compositions from Shimomura, and that's good enough for me.
Fun Fact: Is it me, or does this sound a little bit like Kaijin's CastleVania "Wandering
Ghosts" latin remix?
Nerdy Fact:
Comparisons of music aside, this track has a definitive flow -- beginning, middle, and end. In other words, it doesn't loop like normal
VGM tracks, so I had to get a skosh creative.
Maybe you'll like my solution, and maybe you won't -- either way, I'm happy with how it turned out.
Well, that's it for AET2k this time around!
Next release, we'll have one of two very interesting "themes"... either "Mysteeeeeeeeeeeerious
Places", or "GA". We'll see which, soon enough! Until then, I hope you'll enjoy. Take care, and may
God bless!
