Georgios Andreas Papandreou (Greek: Γεώργιος Ανδρέας Παπανδρέου; born 16 June 1952), commonly anglicised to George, served as Prime Minister of Greece from 2009 to 2011.
Belonging to a political dynasty of long standing, he served under his father, then-prime minister Andreas Papandreou as Minister for National Education and Religious Affairs (1988–1989 and 1994–1996) and Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2004. Papandreou was leader of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) party from February 2004 until March 2012, and President of the Socialist International since January 2006.
On 6 October 2009, George Papandreou became the 182nd Prime Minister of Greece. Following his grandfather Georgios Papandreou and his father Andreas Papandreou, he was the third member of the Papandreou family to serve as the country's prime minister. He resigned on 11 November 2011 during the Greek government debt crisis to make way for a national unity government.

Georgios Papandreou says that we have to think a new growth or a new economic development model. He believes investments - to become competitive & to stimulate our economy - together with infrastructure are key elements to implement a new model.
As he says "the question is not where we can find the money but where we put the money". That is why it is a political problem: how we manage our economy, financial systems; how we create a State that reply to the needs of the citizen and which support and liberate the capacity of these citizen. He underlines that we have to democratize Europe if we want to give a strong legitimacy to the UE institution, and the importance of "working together" to deal global problems. He concludes on his vision of the UE project.

Georgios Papandreou
Georgios Papandreou (Greek: Γεώργιος Παπανδρέου Geórgios Papandréou; 13 February 1888 in Kalentzi – 1 November 1968 in Athens) was a Greek politician, the founder of the Papandreou political dynasty. He served three terms as prime minister of Greece (1944–1945, 1963, 1964–1965). He was also deputy prime minister from 1950–1952, in the governments of Nikolaos Plastiras and Sofoklis Venizelos and served numerous times as a cabinet minister, starting in 1923, in a political career that spanned more than five decades.
Early life
He was born at Kalentzi, in Achaea in West Greece. He was the son of Father Andreas Papandreou, an Orthodox archpriest (protopresvyteros). He studied law in Athens and political science in Berlin. His political philosophy was heavily influenced by German social democracy. As a result, he was adamantly opposed to the monarchy and supported generous social policies, but he was also extremely anti-communist (and specifically against the KKE's policies in Greece). As a young man, he became involved in politics as a supporter of the Liberal leader Eleftherios Venizelos, who made him governor of Chios after the Balkan War of 1912. He married twice. His first wife was Sofia Mineyko, a Polish national, daughter of Zygmunt Mineyko and paternal granddaughter of Stanislaw Mineyko (1802 - 1857). Their son Andreas Papandreou was born in Chios in 1919. The second wife was the actress Cybele Andrianou and their son was named George Papandreou.

Georgios Andreas Papandreou (Greek: Γεώργιος Ανδρέας Παπανδρέου; born 16 June 1952), commonly anglicised to George, served as Prime Minister of Greece from 2009 to 2011.
Belonging to a political dynasty of long standing, he served under his father, then-prime minister Andreas Papandreou as Minister for National Education and Religious Affairs (1988–1989 and 1994–1996) and Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2004. Papandreou was leader of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) party from February 2004 until March 2012, and President of the Socialist International since January 2006.
On 6 October 2009, George Papandreou became the 182nd Prime Minister of Greece. Following his grandfather Georgios Papandreou and his father Andreas Papandreou, he was the third member of the Papandreou family to serve as the country's prime minister. He resigned on 11 November 2011 during the Greek government debt crisis to make way for a national unity government.

Georgios Papandreou says that we have to think a new growth or a new economic development model. He believes investments - to become competitive & to stimulate our economy - together with infrastructure are key elements to implement a new model.
As he says "the question is not where we can find the money but where we put the money". That is why it is a political problem: how we manage our economy, financial systems; how we create a State that reply to the needs of the citizen and which support and liberate the capacity of these citizen. He underlines that we have to democratize Europe if we want to give a strong legitimacy to the UE institution, and the importance of "working together" to deal global problems. He concludes on his vision of the UE project.
