When I was younger, I remember reading Mark 3:29 – Which says, “but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” After reading that, I was truly scared that I’ve might have blasphemed against the Holy Spirt, by some wayward thought or careless comment. Maybe you’ve wondered the same thing. or maybe you’re in fear right at this moment, thinking you’ve committed the unpardonable sin. Let me help you understand what Jesus is was talking about in Mark 3. Who he’s talking to, was the religious leaders, men who knew the word of God through and through. Men who should have easily seen that Jesus was not some ordinary guy, but that he fulfilled all the prophecies written about the coming messiah, the redeemer and savior of the world. But, even though God, through the Holy Spirt revealed the truth of Jesus to these men, still… they rejected the Holy Spirits work at clearly identifying who Jesus was, and instead, they repeated, and they would continue to repeat and believe that Jesus was not the Messiah. Saying he was possessed by a demon, was the Blasphemy against of the Holy Spirt. The continued rejection of Jesus, was the unpardonable sin. Today, the only way, someone could commit the Unforgivable sin, is to reject Jesus, and die in their sin. Because forgiveness of sin is only found in Jesus, if you reject him in this life, you can’t be forgiven in the next. Listen, you don’t need to worry if you’ve committed the unforgivable sin in the past. Instead, make sure you taken the opportunity to go to Jesus in repentance through faith, to receive eternal hope, and the forgiveness of any and all sins. That’s today's Bible Munch.
