Johnson & Johnson has been ordered by a jury in Missouri to pay $55 million to one woman who says that the company failed to give her and other consumers proper warning about the dangers of talc powder. Talc powder has been linked to cancer. Ana Kasparian, Brett Erlich (Pop Trigger), and Kim Horcher (Nerd Alert), hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. "Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) was ordered by a U.S. jury on Monday to pay $55 million to a woman who said that using the company’s talc-powder products for feminine hygiene caused her to develop ovarian cancer.
The verdict, which J&J; plans to appeal, was the second straight trial loss for the company, which is facing about 1,200 lawsuits accusing it of not adequately warning consumers about its talc-based products' cancer risks.
Following a three-week trial in Missouri state court, jurors deliberated for about a day before returning a verdict for Gloria Ristesund. She was awarded $5 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages.”*

Alors le talc c’est quoi ? c’est un minerais composé de silicium et de magnésium. Il en existe deux types : Le talc naturel, directement récolté dans des gisements, qui peut contenir des résidus d'autres minéraux parfois dangereux comme l'amiante. Et le talc "synthétique" fabriqué par l’homme qui ne représente aucune nocivité.
Alors on l’utilise de moins en moins, c’est vrai parce que on met de moins en moins de produits sur les fesses de nos bébés, mais justement, s’il vous en reste au fond d’un placard parce que bébé a aujourd’hui 22 ans, ne le jetez pas. Regardez plutôt.

Talc
Talc (derived from Persian: تالک tālk; Arabic: طلق ṭalq) is a mineral composed of hydrated magnesium silicate with the chemical formula H2Mg3(SiO3)4 or Mg3Si4O10(OH)2. In loose form, it is the widely used substance known as baby powder (aka talcum). It occurs as foliated to fibrous masses, and in an exceptionally rare crystal form. It has a perfect basal cleavage, and the folia are non-elastic, although slightly flexible. It is the softest known mineral and listed as 1 on the Mohs hardness scale. As such, it can be easily scratched by a fingernail. It has a specific gravity of 2.5–2.8, a clear or dusty luster, and is translucent to opaque. Talc is not soluble in water, but it is slightly soluble in dilute mineral acids. Its color ranges from white to grey or green and it has a distinctly greasy feel. Its streak is white.
Soapstone is a metamorphic rock composed predominantly of talc.
Formation
Talc is a metamorphic mineral resulting from the metamorphism of magnesian minerals such as serpentine, pyroxene, amphibole, olivine, in the presence of carbon dioxide and water. This is known as talc carbonation or steatization and produces a suite of rocks known as talc carbonates.
