Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine L. Oliver will host the eighth annual "Made in NY" Awards on June 10 at 7:30 PM at Gracie Mansion. The awards are given each year to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to various fields in the City's entertainment and digital media industries. The 2013 "Made in NY" honorees include: Tony and Olivier Award-winning actor Alan Cumming; Project Runway host and executive producer Heidi Klum; two time Oscar-nominated director Spike Lee; five time Tony Award-winning singer and actress Audra McDonald; President of HBO Documentary Films Sheila Nevins; NYC-based blogging platform and social networking website Tumblr; and Harvey and Bob Weinstein, founders of The Weinstein Company and Miramax Films. This year's "Made in NY" Mayor's Award for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to Emmy Award-winning television host and broadcast journalist Barbara Walters. This year's awards will also feature a special performance by Tony-nominated Kinky Boots with an introduction by Harvey Fierstein.

Designing and decorating your own home is one of the most satisfying experiences. In this video, see how Bob Weinstein and Eric Hensley from Sag Harbor, New York took up an enormous challenge to renovate an old house which they have made their home.
With an aim to preserve the uniqueness of the house, Bob and Eric used pre-existing furniture pieces and fittings from the previous owners. They kept a chest of wooden filing cabinets and framed the old wallpaper which was decades old as memorabilia using Pottery Barn glass frames.
While rebuilding their home, Bob and Eric had fun harvesting and reusing the old building materials. For example, the foundation stones of their home were turned into a sturdy retaining wall in their garden.
A well-known designer himself, Bob likes to incorporate new furniture and design ideas in his home. When Pottery Barn came to redesign their house, they helped create a perfect harmony between different elements of their living space.
According to Bob, the Pottery Barn design team had a great sense of coordination and understanding of aesthetics of their home. The interior design experts at Pottery Barn also provided Bob and Eric with a wide range of options to help personalize and individualize their home.

Robert "Bob" Weinstein (born October 18, 1954) is an American film and theatre producer, the founder and head of Dimension Films, former co-chairman of Miramax Films, and current head, with his brother Harvey Weinstein, of The Weinstein Company.
Weinstein and his brother, Harvey, are of Jewish heritage.
After graduating from college, Bob, along with his brother Harvey Weinstein, independently produced rock concerts as Harvey & Corky Productions in Buffalo through most of the 1970s. Both Weinstein brothers had grown up with a passion for movies and they nurtured a desire to enter the film industry. In the late 1970s, using profits from their concert promotion business, the brothers created a small independent film distribution company called Miramax, named after their parents - Miriam and Max. The company's first releases were primarily music-oriented concert films such as Paul McCartney's Rockshow. In the early 1980s Miramax acquired the rights to two British films of benefit shows filmed for human rights organization Amnesty International. Working closely with Martin Lewis the producer of the original films, the Weinstein brothers edited the two films into one movie tailored for the American market. The resulting film was released as The Secret Policeman's Other Ball in May 1982 and it became Miramax's first hit. The movie raised considerable sums for Amnesty International and was credited by Amnesty with having helped to raise its profile in the US.

Quentin Jerome Tarantino (pronunciation: /ˌtærənˈtiːnoʊ/; born March 27, 1963) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer and actor. He has received many industry awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA and the Palme d'Or and had been nominated for an Emmy and Grammy.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Tarantino was an avid film fan. His career began in the late 1980's, when he wrote and directed My Best Friend's Birthday. Its screenplay would form the basis for True Romance. In the early 1990s, he began his career as an independent filmmaker with films employing nonlinear storylines and the aestheticization of violence. His films include Reservoir Dogs (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Jackie Brown (1997), Kill Bill (2003, 2004), Death Proof (2007), and Inglourious Basterds (2009).
His movies are generally characterized by stylistic influences from grindhouse, kung fu, and spaghetti western films. Tarantino also frequently collaborates with his friend and fellow filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

Designing and decorating your own home is one of the most satisfying experiences. In this video, see how Bob Weinstein and Eric Hensley from Sag Harbor, New York took up an enormous challenge to renovate an old house which they have made their home.
With an aim to preserve the uniqueness of the house, Bob and Eric used pre-existing furniture pieces and fittings from the previous owners. They kept a chest of wooden filing cabinets and framed the old wallpaper which was decades old as memorabilia using Pottery Barn glass frames.
While rebuilding their home, Bob and Eric had fun harvesting and reusing the old building materials. For example, the foundation stones of their home were turned into a sturdy retaining wall in their garden.
A well-known designer himself, Bob likes to incorporate new furniture and design ideas in his home. When Pottery Barn came to redesign their house, they helped create a perfect harmony between different elements of their living space.
According to Bob, the Pottery Barn design team had a great sense of coordination and understanding of aesthetics of their home. The interior design experts at Pottery Barn also provided Bob and Eric with a wide range of options to help personalize and individualize their home.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. When Quentin Tarantino calls and asks for you to be in his movie, you don't think. You run! Returning Tarantino actors Tim Roth, & Walton Goggins were immediately on board "The Hateful Eight" and Demian Bachir, new to the Tarantino couldn't wait to get started.
The movie, set in post-Civil War Wyoming, finds bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) en route to Red Rock when they encounter another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man who claims to be a sheriff. Hoping to find shelter from a blizzard, the group travels to a stagecoach stopover located on a mountain pass. Greeted there by four strangers, the eight travelers soon learn that they may not make it to their destination after all. Bonnie Laufer Krebs (@movi_boni) spoke with Demian Bachir, Walton Goggins and Tim Roth about what it was like to be in Tarantino's EIGHTH film and why it was important for them to be on board.
Six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces.
