Conservatoire de Paris
The Conservatoire de Paris (pronounced: [kɔ̃.sɛʁ.va.twaʁ də pa.ʁi]; English: Paris Conservatory) is a college of music and dance founded in 1795, now situated in the avenue Jean Jaurès in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. The Conservatoire offers instruction in music, dance, and drama, drawing on the traditions of the "French School".
In 1946 it was split in two, one part for acting, theatre and drama, known as the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique (CNSAD), and the other for music and dance, known as the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP). Today the conservatories operate under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
History
École Royale de Chant
On 3 December 1783 Papillon de la Ferté, Intendant of the Menus-Plaisirs du Roi, proposed that Niccolò Piccinni should be appointed director of a future École Royale de Chant (literally, Royal School of Singing). The school was instituted by a decree of 3 January 1784 and opened on 1 April with the composer François-Joseph Gossec as the provisional director. Piccinni refused the directorship, but did join the faculty as a professor of singing. The new school was located in buildings adjacent to the Hôtel des Menus-Plaisirs at the junction of the rue Bergère and the rue du Faubourg Poissonnière. In June a class in dramatic declamation was added, and the name was modified to École Royale de Chant et de Déclamation.

Paris
Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/ PARR-iss; US: 
i/ˈpɛərɪs/ PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-France region, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The City of Paris has an area of 105 km² (41 mi²) and a population of 2,241,346 (2014 estimate) within its administrative borders essentially unchanged since 1860.
Since the 19th century, the built-up area of Paris has grown far beyond its administrative borders; together with its suburbs, the whole agglomeration has a population of 10,550,350 (Jan. 2012 census).Paris' metropolitan area spans most of the Paris region and has a population of 12,341,418 (Jan. 2012 census), or one-fifth of the population of France. The administrative region covers 12,012 km² (4,638 mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.
Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.

Music school
A music school is an educational institution specialized in the study, training and research of music. Such an institution can also be known as a school of music, music academy, music faculty, college of music, music department (of a larger institution), conservatory o conservatoire. Instruction includes training in the performance of musical instruments, singing, musical composition, conducting, musicianship, as well as academic and research fields such as musicology, music history and music theory.
Music instruction can be provided within the compulsory general education system, or within specialized children's music schools such as the Purcell School. Elementary-school children can access music instruction also in after-school institutions such as music academies or music schools. In Venezuela El Sistema of youth orchestras provides free after-school instrumental instruction through music schools called núcleos. The term “music school” can be also applied to institutions of higher education under names such as school of music, such as the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University; music academy, like the Sibelius Academy; music faculty as the Don Wright Faculty of Music of the University of Western Ontario; college of music, characterized by the Royal College of Music and the Berklee College of Music; music department, like the Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley; or the term conservatory, exemplified by the Conservatoire de Paris. In other parts of Europe, the equivalents of higher school of music or university of music may be used, such as the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Cologne University of Music).

Le conservatoire Paul Dukas - Bernard Desmoulin, architecte et Jean-Marie Hauswald de Moeding
Le conservatoire Paul Dukas situé dans le 12e arrondissement de Paris a été conçu par l'architecte Bernard Desmoulin. Moeding fabricant de produits en terre cuite pour l'architecture a été choisi pour habiller la façade du conservatoire. La rédaction du magazine Muuuz a rencontré Bernard Desmoulin ainsi que Jean-Marie Hauswald, directeur commercial France de Moeding. Le conservatoire Paul Dukas était sélectionné aux ADC Awards 2015 dans la catégorie Culture.

Chopin / Roger Désormière, 1948: Ballet Music from Les Sylphides - Paris Conservatory Orchestra
In this 1948 recording, the French conductor Roger Désormière (1898-1963) leads the Paris Conservatory Orchestra in a performance of ballet music to Les Sylphides. I created this video from the LP shown above, issued in 1958 on the London / Richmond label, serial number B-199028. A photo of the English ballerina Dame Alicia Markova (1910-2004) is on the cover of the LP jacket (at 4:30). LP label is at 7:14; jacket cover, 8:52. Leonid Kogan war ein berühmter russischer Geiger des 20. Jahrhunderts. Neben David Oistrach und Eduard Grach repräsentierte Kogan zudem die russisch-jüdischen Tradition des Violinspiels. Er mied die Öffentlichkeit, was auch ein Grund dafür war, dass er stets im Schatten seines Freundes David Oistrach stand. Charakteristisch für Kogan ist, dass in seinen Interpretationen oft Krafteinsatz und Ausdrucksstärke über die Klangschönheit gestellt wurden, was zum Interpretationsideal der 1950er und 1960er Jahre nicht recht passte. Auch verwendete Kogan das Vibrato nur sehr sparsam. Um seinen Musizierstil zu kennzeichnen, wurde oft der Begriff vom „kaltem Feuer" verwendet.

Il décède subitement dans un train entre l'Autriche et l'URSS alors qu'il se rendait à un concert avec son fils Pavel, également violoniste.

Born in Paris, she studied at first with her mother, then with Félix Le Couppey on piano, Marie Gabriel Augustin Savard, Martin Pierre Marsick on violin, and Benjamin Godard in music composition, but not officially, since her father disapproved of her musical education.
Her first experiments in composition took place in very early days, and in her eighth year she played some of her sacred music to Georges Bizet, who was much impressed with her talents. She gave her first concert when she was eighteen, and from that time on her work as a composer gained steadily in favor. She wrote mostly character pieces for piano, and salon songs, almost all of which were published.
She toured France several times in those earlier days, and in 1892 made her debut in England, where her work was extremely popular.Isidor Philipp, head of the piano department of the Paris Conservatory championed her works. She repeatedly returned to England during the 1890s and made premieres there with singers such as Blanche Marchesi and Pol Plançon, though this activity decreased after 1899 due to bad critical reviews.
Chaminade married a music publisher from Marseilles, Louis-Mathieu Carbonel, in 1901, and on account of his advanced age the marriage was rumored to be one of convenience. He died in 1907, and Chaminade did not remarry.
In 1908 she visited the United States, and was accorded a very hearty welcome from her admirers there. Her compositions were tremendous favorites with the American public, and such pieces as the Scarf Dance or the Ballet No. 1 were to be found in the music libraries of many lovers of piano music of the time. She composed a Konzertstück for piano and orchestra, the ballet music to Callirhoé and other orchestral works. Her songs, such as The Silver Ring and Ritournelle, were also great favorites. Ambroise Thomas once said of Chaminade: "This is not a woman who composes, but a composer who is a woman." In 1913, she was awarded the Légion d'Honneur, a first for a female composer. In London in 1903, she made gramophone recordings of seven of her compositions for the Gramophone and Typewriter Company; these are among the most sought-after piano recordings by collectors, though they have been reissued on compact disk. Before and after World War I, Chaminade recorded many piano rolls, but as she grew older, she composed less and less, dying in Monte Carlo on 13 April 1944.
Chaminade was relegated to obscurity for the second half of the 20th century, her piano pieces and songs mostly forgotten, with the Flute Concertino in D major, Op. 107, composed for the 1902 Paris Conservatoire Concours, her most popular piece today.
Chaminade's sister married Moritz Moszkowski, also a well-known composer and pianist like Cécile.
