After winning an Oscar for taking a hard look at Wall Street prior to the recession, “The Big Short” director Adam McKay is ready to tackle another controversy, with the help of Jennifer Lawrence.

Sources tell Variety that McKay and Lawrence have attached themselves to an untitled pitch that centers on Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the blood testing company Theranos, who Forbes proclaimed in 2015 as the youngest female self-made billionaire only to have her net worth reduced in the past week following allegations that the company’s blood tests are inaccurate.

The timing of the pitch is pretty spot on given that Forbes only recently reduced her net worth in the past week but the subject matter seems to be the type of Material McKay is chasing these days.

Lawrence will star and produce along with McKay who will write, direct and also produce through his Gary Sanchez banner. »
