Sharon Waxman is an American journalist and blogger who has been a correspondent for The Washington Post and The New York Times, among others. She started a Hollywood and media business blog called The Wrap in early 2009 which competes directly with sites such as Deadline Hollywood.
Waxman graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, in 1985 and from St. Antony's College, Oxford University in 1987.
She is the author of the books Rebels on the Backlot: Six Maverick Directors and How They Conquered the Hollywood Studio System, which features profiles of directors Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Steven Soderbergh, David O. Russell, and Spike Jonze and Loot, which explores the global trade in antiquities.
According to CBS Market Watch, Waxman raised $500,000 for "The Wrap News", as a news portal site covering entertainment and media, which has launched on January 26, 2009.
