Frank Ferguson (born December 25, 1899, Ferndale, California — died September 12, 1978, Los Angeles) was an American character actor with hundreds of appearances in both film and television. Perhaps his best known role was as the ranch handyman, Gus Broeberg, on the CBS television series, My Friend Flicka, based on a novel of the same name. He appeared with Gene Evans, Johnny Washbrook, and Anita Louise. At this time, Ferguson also portrayed the Calverton veterinarian in the first several seasons of CBS's Lassie.
Even before My Friend Flicka and Lassie, Ferguson appeared in five episodes as "Murdock" in the 1953-1954 ABC sitcom, The Pride of the Family, starring Paul Hartman, Fay Wray, Natalie Wood, and Robert Hyatt.
Ferguson also played three different characters on The Andy Griffith Show, two different characters on Petticoat Junction, four different characters on Bonanza, four different characters each on Perry Mason and Maverick. He guest starred on other series, including NBC's Wagon Train, The Restless Gun, and Overland Trail, ABC's The Rifleman, Target: The Corruptors!, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, twice on CBS's General Electric Theater, hosted by Ronald W. Reagan, and twice in 1956 as Henry Murdock (a name similar to his character in The Pride of the Family) on the syndicated western-themed crime drama Sheriff of Cochise. He appeared on all three of Rod Cameron's crime series, City Detective, (1955), State Trooper (1957) and COronado 9 (1960). He also appeared in 1963 in the final season of Leave it to Beaver.
Walter Maynard Ferguson (May 4, 1928 – August 23, 2006) was a Canadian jazz musician and bandleader. He came to prominence playing in Stan Kenton's orchestra, before forming his own band in 1957. He was noted for being able to play accurately in a remarkably high register, and for his bands, which served as stepping stones for up-and-coming talent.
Ferguson was born in Verdun, Quebec (now part of Montreal). Encouraged by his mother and father (both musicians), Maynard was playing piano and violin by the age of four. Newsreel footage exists of Ferguson as a child prodigy violinist. At nine years old, he heard a cornet for the first time in his local church and asked his parents to purchase one for him. At age thirteen, Ferguson first soloed as a child prodigy with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Orchestra and was heard frequently on the CBC, notably featured on a "Serenade for Trumpet in Jazz" written for him by Morris Davis. Ferguson won a scholarship to the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal where he studied from 1943 through 1948 with Bernard Baker.
Robert Shew (born March 4, 1941) is an American jazz trumpet and flugelhorn player.
After leaving college in 1960, Shew was drafted into the U.S. Army and played trumpet with the NORAD band in Colorado Springs and on tour. After leaving the Army, Shew joined Tommy Dorsey's band and then played with the Woody Herman and then the Buddy Rich Big Bands in the mid-to-late 1960s. In 1972 Shew moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles where he did much studio work as well as play with some of the top big bands of the era through the end of the 1970s: Akiyoshi/Tabackin; Bellson; Ferguson; and others. In addition to playing on several notable Big Band recordings starting in the 1960s, Shew recorded several albums as leader starting with 1978's Telepathy.

Plot: The shot-on-video production begins as multi-millionaire Alfred Stein is kept awash in liquor and bimbo as he bets over his head...not with it. He refuses to pay his tab of a million dollars to the criminal casino. He is soon shocked to discover Vivian, his bratty, tennis-playing teen daughter has been kidnapped by a smooth-of-skill but slight-of-bod professional, criminal-for-hire Caroline Horner. Alfred suddenly realizes how much his neglected daughter now means to him and makes a typically shrewd decision attesting to his ability to amass millions, and readily agrees to fork over an amount five times his original debt.
