Shimla - Narkanda - Rampur - Jeori - Reckong Peo 230 km
So here is the story of Day 2 of our winter ride to Spiti.What an amazing day it was with lot's of photography and fun en route to Reckong Peo.Till wangtu road was pretty much in good shape but post that road vanished and we got the opportunity to revv our bikes on some difficult offroad patches.Roayal enfield Himalayan was going crazy on offroad patches and Pulserstarada was having fun too.

Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh ([ɦɪmaːtʃəl prəd̪eːʃ]; literally "Snow-laden Region") is a state in North India, forming part of the larger Punjab region. Its area is 21,495 sq mi (55,670 km2), and is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Punjab on the west, Haryana on the south-west, Uttarakhand on the south-east and by the Tibet Autonomous Region on the east.
Himachal Pradesh is famous for its abundant natural beauty. After the war between Nepal and Britain, also known as the Anglo-Gorkha War (1814–1816), the British colonial government came into power and the land now comprising Himachal Pradesh became part of the Punjab Province of British India. In 1950, Himachal was declared a union territory, but after the State of Himachal Pradesh Act 1971, Himachal emerged as the 18th state of the Republic of India. Hima means snow in Sanskrit, and the literal meaning of the state's name is "In the lap of Himalayas". It was named by Acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, one of the great Sanskrit scholars of Himachal Pradesh.

Road to ...
Road to ... refers to a series of seven comedy films starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour. They are also often referred to as the "Road" pictures or the "Road" series. The movies were a combination of adventure, comedy, romance, and music. The minimal plot often took a back seat to gags, many of them supposedly ad-libbed by Crosby and Hope during filming.
Films in the series
Each film is not simply a comedic film, but a satire of some of the popular film genres of the day, including jungle, Arabian nights, Alaskan adventure, and high seas. The final film not only comes much later, but involves a newer genre; Hong Kong spoofs the spy films of the sixties.
In 1977, an eighth Road to ... movie was planned, titled Road to the Fountain of Youth; however, Crosby died that year of a heart attack.
In 1947, Astor Pictures released a compilation film of several of Crosby's Educational Pictures short subjects called The Road to Hollywood to evoke the series.

The Constitution of India distributes the sovereign powers exercisable with respect to the territory of any State between the Union and that State. "Article 73 broadly stated, provides that the executive power of the Union shall extend to the matters with respect to which Parliament has power to make laws. Article 162 similarly provides that the executive power of a State shall extend to the matters with respect to which the Legislature of a State has power to make laws. The Supreme Court has reiterated this position when it ruled in the Ramanaiah case that the executive power of the Union or of the State broadly speaking, is coextensive and coterminous with its respective legislative power." So here is the story of Day 2 of our winter ride to Spiti.What an amazing day it was with lot's of photography and fun en route to Reckong Peo.Till wangtu road was pretty much in good shape but post that road vanished and we got the opportunity to revv our bikes on some difficult offroad patches.Roayal enfield Himalayan was going crazy on offroad patches and Pulserstarada was having fun too.

Reckong Peo, is also spelled Rekong Peo and simply known as Peo by the local inhabitants, is headquarters of Kinnaur district, one of the twelve administrative districts of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
At a height of 2,290 metres (7,513 ft), Reckong Peo is 260 kilometres (162 miles) from Shimla and seven kilometres (4⅓ miles) from Powari. Earlier Kalpa was the headquarters later changed to Reckong Peo, named after group of people who used to own this place in ancient times.

Spending 28th April evening till 30th morning, there was a lot for us to see and experience. At daybreak, the sun rises from behind the snow- peaks, sending shafts of bright light, to augur the beginning of a new day. So here is the story of Day 2 of our winter ride to Spiti.What an amazing day it was with lot's of photography and fun en route to Reckong Peo.Till wangtu road was pretty much in good shape but post that road vanished and we got the opportunity to revv our bikes on some difficult offroad patches.Roayal enfield Himalayan was going crazy on offroad patches and Pulserstarada was having fun too.

Reckong Peo, is also spelled Rekong Peo and simply known as Peo by the local inhabitants, is headquarters of Kinnaur district, one of the twelve administrative districts of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
At a height of 2,290 metres (7,513 ft), Reckong Peo is 260 kilometres (162 miles) from Shimla and seven kilometres (4⅓ miles) from Powari. Earlier Kalpa was the headquarters later changed to Reckong Peo, named after group of people who used to own this place in ancient times.

Kalpa (9,711') will rank as the prime destination in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Spending 28th April evening till 30th morning, there was a lot for us to see and experience. At daybreak, the sun rises from behind the snow- peaks, sending shafts of bright light, to augur the beginning of a new day. On a clear day, visible Himalayan peaks are Kinnaur Kailash, Jorkanden and Ralden among others in their pristine glory. The Shivling - a 70' high stone mass looking very small through naked eye, gets a better look through a pair of binoculars or tele -- lens of Handycam. The landscape captured from hotel room picks up the Apple Blossom in foreground, the cottages in mid-ground and snow -- peaks in the backdrop. Being in early summer, the apple blossoms and cherry blossoms are visible at every possible tree planted in many fruit orchards on both sides of the road. A walk to Baazar yields in addition to shopping, the sightseeing of a Hindu temple and a Buddhist temple. A morning walk to Van Vihar and through the small foot trail amidst the dense greens, keeps one refreshed. The sightseeing places from Kalpa namely Roghi village 5 km, Kothi village - Chadrika devi temple 5 km and suicide point 4 km takes away the most of the day. The adventure loving tourist has the option of trekking 3 km to Chakha right up to glacier by following the path by the water channel perpendicular to Roghi road. Not to be missed event is the evening sunset - the sun calls it a day by caressing the Himalayan peaks and splashing it in blushing pink.
