Nalgonda

Nalgonda ( pronunciation ) is a city and municipality in the Indian state of Telangana. It is the headquarters of the homonymous district, as well as the headquarters of the Nalgonda mandal in the Nalgonda revenue division.

Etymology

The city's name is derived from two Telugu words: nalla ("black") and konda ("hill"). In the past, Nalgonda was referred to as "Nilagiri." During the medieval Bahamani kingdom, it was renamed "Nallagonda." The name was changed to "Nalgonda" for official uses during the rule of the later Nizam kings.

History

Paleolithic Age

There is archaeological evidence that Paleolithic people lived in the area that is now Nalgonda, fashioning tools and weapons out of stone. Some of these implements have been found in the Nalgonda area, similar to those discovered at the Sloan archaeological site in Arkansas.

Neolithic Age

Traces of Neolithic culture were found at Chota Yelupu, where sling stones and other contemporary objects were excavated. Evidence of Megalithic culture was also found via the discovery of innumerable burials at various places around Nalgonda.

Vanitha TV is a women-oriented Telugu TV channel from NTV (India) group.

Vanitha TV is an exclusive television channel which claims to be the first women-centric channel in India. The channel pays respect, love, and gratitude towards women. Its programs focus on the welfare of women, women's power, female fashion, and female health.

Vanitha promises 24-hour infotainment with current affairs, counselling, helpline, music and dance shows and soaps that will do away with gender stereotypes. According to Raghu Eluri, the chief editor for Vanitha TV, the channel will be purely concentrating on women, their struggles, and rights, essentially looking at the world through a woman's eyes.

Wii Menu

The Wii Menu (known internally as the System Menu) is the graphical shell of the Wii game console, as part of the Wii system software. It has four pages, each with a 4:3 grid, and each displaying the current time and date. Available applications, known as "channels", are displayed and can be navigated using the pointer capability of the Wii Remote. The grid is customizable; users can move channels (except for the Disc Channel) amongst the menu's 47 customizable slots by pressing and holding the A and B button while hovering over the channel the user wants to move. By pressing the plus and minus buttons on the Wii Remote users can scroll across accessing empty slots.

Homebrew Channel

The Homebrew Channel, commonly abbreviated as HBC, is a freeware homebrew application loader that was developed to provide a way of easily running unofficial software on the Wii console. Once installed, it appears as a standard Wii Channel on the Wii Menu. When launched, it displays a list of applications found on an SD card or a USB drive. The user then can control and select an application to launch by using a Wii Remote or the GameCube controller. It also accepts application uploads via a USB Gecko or TCP/IP (over Wi-Fi or Ethernet), which allows for quick application testing during development. When first launched from the Wii Menu, the Homebrew Channel will check for updates to itself and automatically download them if the user chooses to do so.

GroundReport

GroundReport is a global citizen journalism platform that enables anyone to publish news reports and videos. To establish trust, GroundReport uses a Wikipedia-like model of volunteer editors and community feedback, combined with a 5-star rating system. Contributors retain rights to their work, and can choose from a range of Creative Commons licenses. In May 2009, GroundReport implemented a vetting system that requires review and approval of every contributor. GroundReport has a strict copyright policy and distributed vetting system. Plagiarized and copyright-infringing material is prohibited from GroundReport, and offending users are banned from the site.

The New York-based company was founded by Rachel Haot (née Rachel Sterne) in 2006, inspired by her work reporting on Darfur as an intern at the United Nations. A digital news network, GroundReport is syndicated to Google News.

According to Adweek, GroundReport received 29,187 unique visitors in December 2010, down from 60,802 monthly unique visitors earlier that year. The same article questioned GroundReport's influence as a news organization: "Even during major events, GroundReport's influence was very small. As the BBC News reported in an article on Dec. 1, 2008, following terror attacks in Mumbai that had been covered on the site, 'it is worth noting that the original story on the GroundReport Web site has attracted fewer than 200 viewers so far, whereas untold millions have watched television reports in India and around the world.'"
