Guru Janmejoy was born in the Mayurbhanj District of Orissa in 1948, in a family of traditional Chhau dancers. Currently he is the Senior most Guru alive in the field of Mayurbhanj Chhau and the only Guru in Delhi who for more than 40 years has stood to promote and develop this style. Guided since childhood by his illustrious family members, particularly his eminent uncle, late Guru Anant Charan Sai Babu (Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee), Guruji studied with some of the most significant Gurus of his time, becoming versatile in the different styles concerning Chhau, allowing him to portray various roles, including both male and female characters.
Gurukul Chhau dance Sangam is a teaching center and performing group composed by six permanent dancers, national and foreign professionals in the field of dance, with different artistic backgrounds. Training rigorously in the Mayurbhanj style under the guidance of Guruji for more than four years, the unit strives to produce solid chhau dancers. His sons, Shri Rajesh Sai Babu and Rakesh Sai Babu, have performed extensively in various dance festivals and shows all over India, and in different countries abroad as well. GCDS also stands out for its social cause of empowering women due to their predominant role in the dance form, allowing them not only to learn the male movements, but to attain a performing level as powerful as that of males.

Elephants grazing in the grassland of Kaziranga National Park, Assam.
The Indian elephant (Elephas maximus indicus) is one of three recognized subspecies of the Asian elephant and native to mainland Asia. Since 1986, Elephas maximus has been listed as Endangered by IUCN as the population has declined by at least 50% over the last 60 to 75 years or three generations. Asian elephants are threatened by habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation.
In general, Asian elephants are smaller than African elephants and have the highest body point on the head. The tip of their trunk has one finger-like process. Their back is convex or level. Indian elephants reach a shoulder height of between 2 and 3.5 m (6.6 and 11.5 ft), weigh between 2,000 and 5,000 kg (4,400 and 11,000 lb), and have 19 pairs of ribs. Their skin color is lighter than of maximus with smaller patches of depigmentation, but darker than of sumatranus. Females are usually smaller than males, and have short or no tusks.
The largest Indian elephant was 3.43 metres (11.3 ft) high at the shoulder. In 1985, two large elephant bulls were spotted for the first time in Bardia National Park, and named Raja Gaj and Kanchha. They roamed the park area together and made occasional visits to the females. Raja Gaj stood 11.3 ft (3.4 m) tall at the shoulder and had a massive body weight. His appearance has been compared to that of a mammoth due to his high bi-domed shaped head. His forehead and domes were more prominent than in other Asian bull elephants.
Indian elephants have smaller ears, but relatively broader skulls and larger trunks than African elephants. Toes are large and broad. Unlike their African cousins, their abdomen is proportionate with their body weight but the African elephant has a large abdomen as compared to the skulls.
Kaziranga National Park is a national park in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam, India. A World Heritage Site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses. Kaziranga boasts the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Kaziranga is recognized as an Important Bird Area by Birdlife International for conservation of avifaunal species. Compared to other protected areas in India, Kaziranga has achieved notable success in wildlife conservation. Located on the edge of the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot, the park combines high species diversity and visibility.
Kaziranga is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broad leaf forests, crisscrossed by four major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, and the park includes numerous small bodies of water. Kaziranga has been the theme of several books, songs, and documentaries. The park celebrated its centennial in 2005 after its establishment in 1905 as a reserve forest.
