The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
To raise awareness, Kevin has now set up his YouTube Channel 'LionWhispererTV'. The channel is all about raising awareness about not only the declining numbers of lions, but also how this rapid decrease is happening. By watching these videos, you are directly contributing to our scheme of land acquisition.
Kevin captures the majority of his footage on GoPro cameras, allowing the viewer to get as close as possible to the lions.
By doing this, Kevin hopes to give people an insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and to let them see just what they can do to help. You can nearly touch them.

Majingilane male lions kill a hyena and eat it at the hyena den.
Lions and hyena are often described as eternal enemies and this video shows the level of animosity between the two species. The Majingilane male lions were relaxing in the bush close to the hyena den when a couple of hyena ran past them with a kill, we left the lions and moved to the hyena den but there was no sign of the adults with the kill, just one of the younger hyena wandering around. Suddenly one of the lions appeared from the surrounding bush and stared intently at the den, the young hyena scampered away into the bush where unfortunately another of the big lions was waiting, we herd a scream from behind the bushes and the second lion ran over to his brother where they proceeded to kill and eat the little hyena!

Hyenas or Hyaenas (from Greek "ὕαινα" - hýaina) are the animals of the family Hyaenidae (
/hɪˈɛnɨdɛ/) of suborder feliforms of the Carnivora. It is the fourth smallest biological family in the Carnivora (consisting of four species), and one of the smallest in the mammalia. Despite their low diversity, hyenas are unique and vital components to most African and some Asian ecosystems.
Although phylogenetically close to felines and viverrids, hyenas are behaviourally and morphologically similar to canines in several aspects (see Convergent evolution); both hyenas and canines are non-arboreal, cursorial hunters that catch prey with their teeth rather than claws. Both eat food quickly and may store it, and their calloused feet with large, blunt, non-retractable nails are adapted for running and making sharp turns. However, the hyenas' grooming, scent marking, defecating habits, mating and parental behaviour are consistent with the behaviour of other feliforms. Although long reputed to be cowardly scavengers, hyenas, especially spotted hyenas, kill as much as 95% of the food they eat, and have been known to drive off leopards or lionesses from their kills. Hyenas are primarily nocturnal animals, but may venture from their lairs in the early morning hours. With the exception of the highly social spotted hyena, hyenas are generally not gregarious animals, though they may live in family groups and congregate at kills.

The Majingilane male lions were relaxing in the bush close to the hyena den when a couple of hyena ran past them with a kill, we left the lions and moved to the hyena den but there was no sign of the adults with the kill, just one of the younger hyena wandering around. Suddenly one of the lions appeared from the surrounding bush and stared intently at the den, the young hyena scampered away into the bush where unfortunately another of the big lions was waiting, we herd a scream from behind the bushes and the second lion ran over to his brother where they proceeded to kill and eat the little hyena! The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
To raise awareness, Kevin has now set up his YouTube Channel 'LionWhispererTV'. The channel is all about raising awareness about not only the declining numbers of lions, but also how this rapid decrease is happening. By watching these videos, you are directly contributing to our scheme of land acquisition.
Kevin captures the majority of his footage on GoPro cameras, allowing the viewer to get as close as possible to the lions.
By doing this, Kevin hopes to give people an insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and to let them see just what they can do to help. You can nearly touch them.

Four teenagers suffered bite wounds in what they claimed was an attack by a hyena in Tarsadi village near Kosamba early on Monday ... The victims claimed that it was a hyena that attacked them but forest department officials said that they are still verifying this as hyenas were not spotted here before ... hyena in his field on Monday morning....
