IOPS members survey on the future of IOPS
Closed end: 16 May 2016
This poll is a survey intended for all IOPS members.IOPS was started as an “interim” organization. The hope was that the organization would see a…
1. IOPS describes itself as a “revolutionary organization”. When you joined IOPS, were you aware of this?
2. Which of the following points best describe your motivations to join IOPS? Please select as many as apply.
3. When you joined IOPS, how much time were you prepared to spend on IOPS-related activities (meetings; reading information on our website; ...)?
4. Have you, in the past, engaged in any IOPS-related actions or activities, other than signing up for IOPS and reading newsletters or items on our website? (Such actions include contacting other members, attending meetings, spreading information about IOPS, participating in IOPS projects, and posting or commenting on IOPS blogs and forums.)
5. Would you be more motivated to be active in IOPS if it moved out of the interim phase?
If we decide to continue with IOPS, we'll have to make some choices about what we focus on, at least at the international level. Roughly speaking, there are two directions we may go. Either one is only possible if enough members cooperate actively. Everything here depends on the volunteer activities of the members, and we do not have the means to do everything we might want to do.
In the first one, the focus will be on empowering the members in their daily activism. The website already offers blogs for telling other members about your experiences, successes and frustrations, forums for discussing issues and problems encountered, and projects in which members can work closely together. There are various ways in which this can be strengthened.
In the second one, the focus is on outward-directed activity, such as by formulating and publishing opinion pieces and policy proposals.
6. Which direction for IOPS would you most likely be inclined to contribute to?
7. Which of the following best describe your expectations for the future of IOPS?
