Condolences go out to country music legend Loretta Lynn and family who are mourning the loss of one of their own. Loretta Lynn's grandson Jeffrey Allen passed away on Monday at the age of 47 according to a Thursday, June report from People. The heartbreaking news was announced in a Facebook post titled "Loretta Mourns the Loss of Grandson" on her official page Wednesday.
"American music icon, Loretta Lynn is mourning the passing of her eldest grandson, Jeffrey Allen Lynn who died unexpectedly on Monday. Jeffrey was 47 and lived and worked on Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee," the statement read. Along with the message, the post featured a throwback photo of Lynn's grandson. "Jeffrey was the eldest son of Jack Benny Lynn, Lynn's second child and eldest son who tragically drowned in 1984 at the age of 34 following a drowning accident while horseback riding near Hurricane Mills. The Facebook post concluded with the announcement that the 84-year-old mother of six has canceled her June shows to a later date.
"Loretta Lynn was scheduled to perform this Friday, June 10 in Miami, Oklahoma and Saturday, June 11 in Hinton, Oklahoma, however, those shows will be postponed to July 8 and November 12 so Loretta can be with her family." Lynn is on the road promoting her newest album, Full Circle. The project earned Lynn her highest-ever chart debut on the all-genre Billboard 200 following its release on March 4. The record is available on both Amazon and iTunes.
Jeffrey Allen was 47 and is survived by three children: Jory, Katie, and Cody. He was one of the country icon’s more than 20 grandchildren. Our deepest condolences go out to Loretta Lynn and family during this difficult time.
