Halsted Street

Halsted Street is a major north-south street in the American city of Chicago, Illinois.

Location

In Chicago's grid system, Halsted street marks 800 West, one mile (1.6 km) west of State Street, from Grace Street (3800 N) in Lakeview south to the city limits at the Little Calumet River (13000 S) in West Pullman, a length of 168 north-south Chicago blocks. (From Grace north to Lawrence Avenue (4800 N) in Uptown, 800 W is marked by Clarendon Avenue.)

North Side

In Lakeview Halsted passes through Wrigleyville, as intersecting with Addison Street, it is only two blocks east of Wrigley Field home of the Chicago Cubs. Halsted is then lined with restaurants, bars and gay bars and clubs as one enters Boystown, Chicago's main gay and lesbian community. Boystown runs from Belmont Ave. to Irving Pk (4000N) and beyond to as far as Wilson Ave (4600N) and one of the city's busiest shopping districts. As it continues south past Diversey (2800 N), it goes past DePaul University and through the Lincoln Park area, as a primary thoroughfare through the community area.

Halsted Street station

Halsted Street, also known as Halsted Street/U.I.C., is a station on Metra's BNSF Railway Line, located in Chicago, Illinois. The station is 1.8 miles (2.9 km) away from Union Station, the eastern terminus of the West Line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Halsted Street is in zone A. Halsted Street is only served during rush hour periods; trains that serve this station during morning rush hour are: 1202, 1212, 1222, 1230, 1246, 1254, and 1260. A few more eastbound trains also serve the station during evening rush hour, which is also referred to as the "reverse commute." Reverse commute trains that stop at Halsted are: 1270, 1274, and 1288. Evening rush hour trains that stop at Halsted are: 1233, 1237, 1241, 1247, 1255, 1263, and 1275. There is only one reverse commute train that stops at Halsted during morning rush hour, and that is westbound train 1201. Halsted Street/UIC is not served on weekends, all eastbound and westbound weekend trains will terminate this station entoute to Union Station or Aurora.

Chicago (Michael Jackson song)

"Chicago" is a song by American recording artist Michael Jackson. The song was originally recorded during the Invincible recording sessions under the name "She Was Lovin' Me". A reworked version of the song was included in Jackson's posthumous album Xscape.

It was first revealed that "Chicago" would be the first release from the Xscape album. However, plans changed and "Love Never Felt So Good" became the debut release instead.

Release

The song was released on May 5, 2014 on Sony Entertainment Network as a promotional single for promoting Xscape.

Remix

The song's "Papercha$er Remix" was made available for select Sony customers through Xperia Lounge and Music Unlimited as Track 9 of the standard edition.

Chicago station (CTA Red Line)

Chicago (also Chicago/State in station announcements) is a rapid transit station on the Red Line of the Chicago 'L'. It serves a significant portion of the Near North Side and Streeterville neighborhoods. With 5,259,992 overall boardings in 2014, it is the busiest station on the Red Line north of the Loop.

Location

The second stop on the Red Line north of the Chicago River, Chicago station lies in the central portion of the Near North Side. Specifically, it is located underneath the intersection of State Street and Chicago Avenue. It is three blocks west of the northern section of the Magnificent Mile; the Chicago Water Tower is located on that strip at the intersection of Chicago and Michigan Avenues. It is also the closest 'L' station to the John Hancock Center, Holy Name Cathedral, the Rush Street entertainment district, and the downtown campus of Loyola University Chicago. The Chicago campus of the Moody Bible Institute is also nearby.

History

The Chicago station opened on October 17, 1943, as part of the State Street Subway, which forms the central portion of what is now the Red Line between North/Clybourn and Roosevelt stations.
