Here's a little experiment of mine that tests the viability of using supercapacitors instead of rechargeable batteries in portable electronics. Supercapacitors charge much faster then traditional batteries and absorb the charge current more readily since their internal resistance is very small compared to a regular chemical battery. This is only a proof of concept video. If this was to be truly implemented, you would size the supercapacitors significantly and most likely add in a buck-boost converter to use more of the energy stored in the supercapacitors.

Tthis video is about how to make a very simple rechargeable battery using old lead plates and alum (epsom salt). the lead plates can be replaced by copper and zinc plates but the the cell will give a voltage of about 1V only.

In this video i show you how easy it is to make a homemade rechargeable lead battery. Both of the plates are made of lead. The initial polarity of the cell is entirely up to you, but once you start to charge it you cannot reverse the polarity. Make sure your plates are clean or the lead dioxide will not form properly. Feel free to check out my other videos. There are only a few now but there will be more soon.

Problem: The battery in my R/C car wouldn't charge. This can happen sometimes when NiMH and NiCad batteries go without use for long periods of time.
Solution: Voltage Blast! Please use caution as batteries can SPLODE! Also, I have no idea if this works on lithium type batteries. There are no guarantees that this will work and this could cause damage to your... Everything. In this case I used an AC/DC adaptor to give a 4.8V 150mAh NiMH battery made for a Losi Micro T/B/DT Remote Control Car a Voltage Blast. It works almost like a defibrillator on a heart shocking the battery back to life.

Rechargeable battery
A rechargeable battery, storage battery, secondary cell, or accumulator is a type of electrical battery which can be charged, discharged into a load, and recharged many times, while a non-rechargeable or primary battery is supplied fully charged, and discarded once discharged. It is composed of one or more electrochemical cells. The term "accumulator" is used as it accumulates and stores energy through a reversible electrochemical reaction. Rechargeable batteries are produced in many different shapes and sizes, ranging from button cells to megawatt systems connected to stabilize an electrical distribution network. Several different combinations of electrode materials and electrolytes are used, including lead–acid, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-ion), and lithium ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).
Rechargeable batteries initially cost more than disposable batteries, but have a much lower total cost of ownership and environmental impact, as they can be recharged inexpensively many times before they need replacing. Some rechargeable battery types are available in the same sizes and voltages as disposable types, and can be used interchangeably with them.

Here's a little experiment of mine that tests the viability of using supercapacitors instead of rechargeable batteries in portable electronics. Supercapacitors charge much faster then traditional batteries and absorb the charge current more readily since their internal resistance is very small compared to a regular chemical battery. This is only a proof of concept video. If this was to be truly implemented, you would size the supercapacitors significantly and most likely add in a buck-boost converter to use more of the energy stored in the supercapacitors.

The initial polarity of the cell is entirely up to you, but once you start to charge it you cannot reverse the polarity. Make sure your plates are clean or the lead dioxide will not form properly. Problem: The battery in my R/C car wouldn't charge. This can happen sometimes when NiMH and NiCad batteries go without use for long periods of time.
Solution: Voltage Blast! Please use caution as batteries can SPLODE! Also, I have no idea if this works on lithium type batteries. There are no guarantees that this will work and this could cause damage to your... Everything. In this case I used an AC/DC adaptor to give a 4.8V 150mAh NiMH battery made for a Losi Micro T/B/DT Remote Control Car a Voltage Blast. It works almost like a defibrillator on a heart shocking the battery back to life.
